Hi all: I just have a question when I watching TV tonight. Anyone know why some Domaine Romanee Conti, Romanee Conti has 5 digits number and some have 6 digits number? Any explanation?
Thanks a lot in advance

Depends on who made them.
Brilliant Rick. Absolutely brilliant.
Thanks Rick
Size of the vintage
No - certainly not.
From the 6 ha La Tâche (largest holding) there cannot be more than 30.000 bottles produced, even not in the “richest” vintages -
All I can say; indeed there are bottles/vintages with 5 and with 6 digit bottle numbers. In any case, if six, the first digit is zero!
Why then 6 digits at all - I have no idea? Maybe a printing counter with six digits ?
E.g.: in 1985 all numbers seem to have 6 digits - even Montrachet.
The six digits seem to have been used in the 70ies and (mid-)80ies … in 1988 only 5 digits.
I believe that Wilson Daniels gets it.
