TN: 2002 Louis Jadot Meursault / 2000 Arrowood Cote de Lune Rouge....

  • 2000 Arrowood Cote de Lune Rouge - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/27/2009)
A winery sooooo underrated imo. This is a blend of Syrah, Grenache Noir, Cinsualt, Mouvedre and Viognier. Lighter to med bodied, fresh crushed wild berry fruit mellowed by some age. Nice florals of roses, cherry blossom…some earth dust, old leather, anise, little Rhone smoke funk, super white peppery spice. Still pretty alive with orange Italian-like acidity, somewhat short and sharp finish. Tasty wine, nothing earth shatteringly complex…just tasty. Nice lighter style Cali Rhone. (90 pts.)

A little seepage…darker golden apple color. Not premox. Nice crisp honey lemon acidity with a good dose of spice…more toasted vanilla oak than I’m use to, but not over the top imo. Crisp and sharp minerals, layered with a little toasted hazelnut honey butter, baked apple pie crust, lemon citrus acidity. Nice spicy and chalky finish, but a little short. I like the wine, just doesn’t scream Meursault imo…and there is definitely better out there for less. (89 pts.)
