I also had to bite on the '02 LdH. With shipping, a bargain, and the closest thing to a "sure thing" in a bottle.

Is it me or have the last few days of WTSO been unusually bad? They are offering Costco stuff (clos du val, bv rutherford) for typically (and in some cases much much) worse prices?

They are all over the map recently. Picked up some of that '10 Barolo last week which was nice, but yea, I'd half expect to see some MD 20/20 on there....

Tempted by that Long Meadow Ranch bordeaux blend up now though but nearing storage capacity....

Tempting, but a 2001 didn't show all that well last month. And the 2002 is a much worse vintage.
Don't know about that. Opened a bottle of the 2002 last week after 1 hour open was great.

The wine's interesting, but not for its price point. Plus that wax is a PITA to deal with.

Have to give a shout out to WTSO for customer service. Ordered a mag of Travaglini Gattinara Riserva during the mag marathon. FedEx delivers today, open box and I see that it is the normale and not the riserva.

Email to WTSO and 10 minutes later they come back with a reply stating to keep the mag and they refunded the entire purchase price. Classy.

That's gracious of them. Seems like recent offers have been a shade better, FWIW.

I need to find some coworkers at my office who will take a flyer on some of these names with me. When I was in NYC it was relatively easy to do that, as well as participate in others savvy hunting.

My main reluctance is to buy multiples of things that I do not know well.

The Secret des Sabon offer that's live right now is pretty outstanding. By far the cheapest I've ever seen this, and it's not an off vintage, either.

Looks like the 05/07 Giacosa Stefano is back. For $200 for the pair, it seems like a screaming deal (hey, it's Giacosa and has 95pt reviews from Galloni). Any thoughts? Anyone buying?

Ok, I'll probably regret this but the real deals are to be found by requesting a list of a particular wine type. You'll generally find several small lots of older wines that they can't offer online as they don't have enough. I picked up a few Brunellos and Amarones for example. I found my holiday champagne last year this way-2002 Montaudon for under $30. Just delicious and everyone loved it. You're welcome.

Went for a case of 2000 Teldeschi Library Petite Sirah at $17.99 each. Seemed like a very good deal for a wine with good notes on CT. I've been going after more Petite Sirah with bottle age at auction, since it's a grape that really needs time to gel. Hopefully this will be a good buy.

Their website has it for $15, but I imagine the shipping pushes it over the top.

I forgot to include WTSO members rated it 92Pts. Too bad you can't who made see the actual scores. Did not mean to imply any sarcasm just quoting what the offer stated.

CT has 88.8 and WTSO is 91 and 92. Hence my $.02.

I hear ya on the Wtso and Newman scores. Total BS. But for the price-and free shipping-I do think it is a deal. Wife loves it as a daily drinker.
