I was gifted a bottle of NV Willamette Valley Strangeland “Chardonnay Decadence” - 14.25 % alcohol and 13 % RS (!)
Google acknowledges that the wine actually exists, but there is no more tangible info whatsoever. In fact there isn’t much on Strangeland beyond their own website which doesn’t mention the late harvest chardonnay.
Does anyone have any experience with this stuff? Any idea how old it might be?
I’ve never heard of that particular wine, but there was a lot more interest in sweet wines here back in the 80’s. Elk Cove made a number of dessert Rieslings, Cameron made one as well that was called “Eugenia”, and Chateau Benoit (now Anne Amie) made a 1982 Select late harvest Chardonnay that was very good. Perhaps this was a later part of the same “wave”.
