TN: 2010 Rio Madre Graciano Rioja (Spain, La Rioja, Rioja)

  • 2010 Rio Madre Graciano Rioja - Spain, La Rioja, Rioja (1/28/2013)
$10 bucks!!! 100% old vine Graciano. WOW…very saturated ooozeberry fruit…raspberry/blueberry/blackberry/black cherry…seems like it would be a heavy mess, but it has wonderful lifted acidity and is somewhat lite! Along with the liqueured berry fruit…I love the dark earth spice, mossed bark, tar, dark chocolate covered currants, licorice and beautiful florals! Not too sweet, nice easy drinking structure, enough complexities to turn heads…all for $10 bucks! Super QPR here! (92 pts.)

Agreed. Drank a bottle over the past 2 days, and it’s a fantastic QPR. I will pick up a couple of cases tomorrow.

I had a bottle of the '11 a few months ago.
It had an interesting palate, but there was too much oak for my tastes.

I’d like to try one that was 10 years old.

So bear with me, I don’t buy much wine. Also this is Ohio…

There is a Shell gas station that has the best cajun cuisine around. I was waiting for them to prepare my order and came across a 2014 vintage of this Rio Madre - Rioja 100% Graciano. I am enjoying this wine a lot. My price was $12/bottle. Imported by Ordóñez.

Funny…saw the thread title and quickly thought…”I know that wine?”…clicked on it and chuckled! Need to revisit a bottle!
