TN: 2001 Señorío de San Vicente Tempranillo Rioja San Vicente

  • 2001 Señorío de San Vicente Tempranillo Rioja San Vicente - Spain, La Rioja, Rioja (1/2/2013)
Still pretty dark red and while transparent at the edge there is no bricking to be seen yet. Smells of red fruits with some toasty oak aromas. This wine is really drinking well now. It has taken 12 years, but I think it has really hit its stride. Tastes of red fruits, really smooth and harmonious. Lovely balance here. While you get the whiff of oak when you smell the wine, you don’t get much oak taste in your mouth. Tannins underly this but nicely balance the fruit. The acidity here is nice as well. Plummy fruit, tobacco, and spices. Very nice. (93 pts.)
