TN: 2007 Christopher Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Finlay's Vineyard

  • 2007 Christopher Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Finlay’s Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley (8/23/2012)
Splash decanted for 30 minutes. First aroma is blackberry with some muted spice. At first, I only detected the fruit, little else, and then some granular tannins. Not very complex nor deep. 90 minutes later, it has really come into its own with a cedar overlay on the fruit. Much more enjoyable. Still have three left, and must be patient with them. (90 pts.)

Just opened one of these and it’s an impressive Sonoma effort. Tons of blue fruit upon opening which gave way to pure blackberry fruit complemented by the typical Sonoma cab dustiness and balanced tannin. For under $30, this is one of the most polished Sonoma cabs I’ve tried. Far better than cinq cepages, tresor and the other “heavy hitters” in the Sonoma region of the same vintage.

I’ll have to try and get it. I have been really digging into Sonoma cabs lately.
