TN: 2005 Karl Lawrence Cabernet

2005 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/8/2009)
Beautiful wine. Deep, dark, Inky black color to it. Took a couple of hours to really open, but once it did it was damn tasty. Nose of green pepper, black currant and black fruits. Full bodied, yet well balanced wine with the fruit really coming through on the palate. Black cherries and blackberries with a bit of dark bitter chocolate on the finish. Tannins were giving good grip on the end but that mellowed out somewhat after a while. I just ordered my '06’s and hadn’t had on '05 yet, so I figured I’d give it a shot. Great wine.

Thanks, Yoni. This is one of my favorite cabs, year in and year out. Have not tried an '05 yet (or even an '04 for that matter)! So it was good to read about it.

very few napa cabs are worth the price we pay for them. karl lawrence, however, is quite the exception. very nice stuff!
