2005 Meyer-Fonee Pinot Gris 'Reserve Particuliere'

It was particular tonight. It did not want to be an aperitif wine. It’s pithy nature - grapefruit pith that is - demanded food. With Grilled zucchini and garbanzo soup it was happier, and happiest when I added 2 day old Semifreddi ciabiatta toasts with a little roquefort. Actually a really nice match.

Golden brown color. Smoky, minerally and a little RS on the nose, then on the palate lightly sweet, a hint of smokiness and a lot of grapefruit pith. Not sure if I missed the best time for it or if it may develop over time… Decent wine, good wine, but I would not seek it out again. After all there are other matches for Roquefort!
