Re: What is YOUR most recent wine purchase?
Wine.com substituted a ‘16 Guigal Ampuis into an order for a $70 Cote Rotie that was out of stock.
I don’t see much on CT. While I’m familiar with Guigal, I don’t drink their wines much.
Debating whether to keep this, even if the price was a deal.
Anyone familiar with this? What should I expect in terms of style? I assume this will hold for 5 - 10 yrs
Rest of the order was LP Grand Siecle

The 2016 was killer. Generally a strong value play.

I have 24 bottles of the 15, but never tried one yet. It should hold for quite a few years - at least a few more before it hits prime I'd guess.

My BD Albert wines just arrived. Look at those fills and crisp labels! Amazing for 82s. (Aside from the Latour that was damaged and looks like it fell off during shipping.)

Love all of these vintages, but that 2014 Raffault, is probably my fave vintage since 2005. I need to grab more. Just snagged a case of 2014 Domaine Guion Deux Mont, which to me, had a similar profile to the Raffault. Re: What is YOUR most recent wine purchase?
It's my understanding the Ampuis bottling used to go into the Blond et Brune Cote Rotie. When they bottled separately the quality of B & B went down. Those with more knowledge will correct me. I have had very good bottles of Ampuis most recently the 2000. I feel that '16 is a very good year in N. Rhone and many on this board prefer it to '15. At $70 I feel you got a decent price on the bottle. Rule of 15.MattG wrote: ↑March 19th, 2021, 2:24 pm Wine.com substituted a ‘16 Guigal Ampuis into an order for a $70 Cote Rotie that was out of stock.

The Lauer Riesling 270 E-S-W is a Stirn-like bottling - so off-dry...sourced from parcels near Stirn (E) parts near Neuenberg (S) and then way over where Senior is from, away from river (W)—thus the name—picked from 3 parcels representing east, south, and then more west exposures. This is the first time this wine was made and only one barrel was produced. He was thinking of possibly sending it to auction but offered it to us instead.
