As far as the left bank goes, the commune of Margaux was the weakest overall. Ch. Margaux is certainly a fine wine, but Cheval Blanc was positively stellar in '82.

Damn, what a buzz kill! Margaux is his jam, so perhaps best for his palate!
What, it's not like I said the Margaux was a sh*tty wine! Far from it!

Whoa, you guys know how to buy! Big time heavy-hitters purchased all around here!

Apparently, everybody were at the cool store while I ended up at the wrong (neighborhood) liquor joint and took home 2 wines just to make sure I don't get scolded here for missing out on the merits of one versus the other. To drink with some red-sauced dinner at home:

2017 Fattoria Rodano Chianti Classico
2016 Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva.

Besides, Larry is really old so he probably knows what’s best for Michael.

I like this producer very much but the Margaux is too pricey. Big Russ Faulkner gave this wine a solid note on CT, but I might have bought it regardless given the vintage and the producer.

Who got that '82 Cheval Blanc? That was my first choice too, but never expected to get it. I assume someone who purchased far more than me was "awarded" it.

I did get 2 however:

'98 Mouton (sons birth year and I have a magnum that I don't want to open first)
'99 Haut Brion

That’s funny I almost bought the 98 Mouton for that very reason as well, and then said f*ck it, he’s 22 now

LOL-same. It's for me not for him. Just a round about way of justifying yet another wine purchase. I really wanted the Cheval Blanc though....

(3) Cerbaiona Rosso di Montalcino 2015

Not a great price, but this wine has great potential. I believe they bottled everything in 2015 as Rosso.

2 x SQN Aperta White

Seems like a one-off with 2 years on on-lees barrel age. MK calls it Liquid Platinum in texture; I'll be the judge of that.

Love to hear more on this. 2015 was a decent vintage, interesting that they declassified.
