Yes notes are all over the place. Only had it once vs Lafon Charmes and I thought it edged the Lafon (both 10s). And I am a big fan of Lafon Charmes.m. ristev wrote: ↑December 24th, 2020, 9:24 amdo you have much experience with this producer? not much out there, but the notes i have read seemed to be rather mixed.Alex Valdes wrote: ↑December 19th, 2020, 8:40 am 6x2014 Bernard-Bonin Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes-Dessus

Yes. I was tempted again by those in the Unsold Lots email. I bought the ‘16 that way for a good price a couple months ago.Mich@el Ch@ng wrote: ↑December 28th, 2020, 4:11 pm 2015 Ramonet Clos de la Boudriotte rouge x 4

There were a lot of tempting things in that email. Than I realized 15% commission, CA tax (I assume?), and cross-country shipping....bit quite as tempting.Jayson Cohen wrote: ↑December 28th, 2020, 4:19 pmYes. Very nice buy on the Montus. No one ages Madiran, which is a shame. A recent pairing with calves liver and onions was genius.William Kelley wrote: ↑December 29th, 2020, 6:31 am 2x 1962 d'Angerville Pommard

Agree 100%. I think the step up to the Cuvee Prestige is worth the minor uptick in price. These wines age beautifully. And for those that like rustic charm, this is it.Sarah Kirschbaum wrote: ↑December 29th, 2020, 6:43 amVery nice buy on the Montus. No one ages Madiran, which is a shame. Interesting! I've got a 2015 Volnay Saint-François that I got in a mixed case from an importer stashed away without knowing much about the Domaine.William Kelley wrote: ↑December 29th, 2020, 6:31 am 1x 1993 Roblet-Monnot Volnay 1er Cru (anyone who hasn't been following this producer.... well, they might want to rectify that soon!)
I visited this fall. We last covered them in 2005/2006, when David Shildknecht gave them very good reviews, but since then, nothing. Which is bizarre, given how good I found the wines to be. When one looks into it, one also learns that Pascal Roblet was one of the first to stop hedging his vineyards, along with Leroy etc etc. So this is not some sort of "rising star" but actually a first-rate domaine hiding in plain sight.Sean S y d n e y wrote: ↑December 29th, 2020, 7:45 amInteresting! The château sold some library wines to a caviste I buy from, so quite pleased about that. Got some Boucassé VV 1995 in bottles and jéros as well. Not really up to speed on what was what back then, or even which vintages to seek out, so flying somewhat blind, but it's low-stakes poker and it's nice to have something to drink with cassoulet.Sarah Kirschbaum wrote: ↑December 29th, 2020, 6:43 amVery nice buy on the Montus. I bought a few bottles of the 2013 Volnay 1er Cru St. Jean on winebid a while back, which I understand is a blend of Taillepieds and Brouillards, and was probably made because there wasn't enough of those vineyards to bottle separately in 2013. Maybe the 1993 is a similar blend? Pascal Roblet is the partner (or husband?) of Cecile Tremblay, isn't he?William Kelley wrote: ↑December 29th, 2020, 7:51 amI visited this fall. Not sure, he makes a Robardelle-based 1er Cru blend that today goes by the name "Les Vignes de Madeleine", so not sure if that's the new manifestation of St. Jean or a different cuvée.... I'll ask him in due course.Danius Barzdukas wrote: ↑December 31st, 2020, 10:47 amI bought a few bottles of the 2013 Volnay 1er Cru St. Jean on winebid a while back, which I understand is a blend of Taillepieds and Brouillards, and was probably made because there wasn't enough of those vineyards to bottle separately in 2013. Was wondering where those went; I got a couple the first go around
I figured there would be some disappointed souls around here. There were only 6 bottles available though 30 min after the email. Not sure if they had more earlier.Mich@el Ch@ng wrote: ↑December 31st, 2020, 1:46 pmWas wondering where those went; I got a couple the first go around
Got a say...in the back of my mind I was a little leary that these bottles would make it to my cellar as advertised? With the 'Wine.com delivery fail' thread, and frankly too good too be true pricing. Well...here them are!!! And they ARE 2008's!B.
