Just ordered a mixed case from Tercero. Larry is having one heck of a year end sale for club members - maybe even better than BerserkerDay.

do you have much experience with this producer? not much out there, but the notes i have read seemed to be rather mixed.
Yes notes are all over the place. Only had it once vs Lafon Charmes and I thought it edged the Lafon (both 10s). And I am a big fan of Lafon Charmes.

I had to bite on an offer from a Florida retailer I sometimes buy from. $50 for Mod Selection Brut $70 for the Rose. Not a Champagne I’d normally buy but worth a try.

6x ‘15 Lafarge Chateau des Ducs
6x ‘18 Lafarge Chateau des Ducs

Yields were down more than 30% at Lafarge for ‘19 vintage, ain’t going to get any allocations for ‘19 Lafarge for sure, so bought back vintages.

Last purchase of the year?? Tho I am eyeing some back vintages of Vogue....

A single bottle of Filippo Sobrero 1979. Picked up at auction for $61 plus commission. One of the few times lately where I was lucky that nobody else knew the wine.

Yes. I was tempted again by those in the Unsold Lots email. I bought the ‘16 that way for a good price a couple months ago.

There were a lot of tempting things in that email. Than I realized 15% commission, CA tax (I assume?), and cross-country shipping....bit quite as tempting.

Very nice buy on the Montus. No one ages Madiran, which is a shame. A recent pairing with calves liver and onions was genius.

Agree 100%. I think the step up to the Cuvee Prestige is worth the minor uptick in price. These wines age beautifully. And for those that like rustic charm, this is it.

Interesting! I've got a 2015 Volnay Saint-François that I got in a mixed case from an importer stashed away without knowing much about the Domaine.

I visited this fall. We last covered them in 2005/2006, when David Shildknecht gave them very good reviews, but since then, nothing. Which is bizarre, given how good I found the wines to be. When one looks into it, one also learns that Pascal Roblet was one of the first to stop hedging his vineyards, along with Leroy etc etc. So this is not some sort of "rising star" but actually a first-rate domaine hiding in plain sight.

The château sold some library wines to a caviste I buy from, so quite pleased about that. Got some Boucassé VV 1995 in bottles and jéros as well. Not really up to speed on what was what back then, or even which vintages to seek out, so flying somewhat blind, but it's low-stakes poker and it's nice to have something to drink with cassoulet.

Those are magic words - cassoulet + aged Madiran.

Edited to add '94, while not considered a great year, was good for Montus (according to my husband, who knows about these things.) Can't go wrong with Montus in general. We have mags of the '95 Cuvee Prestige waiting for the next cassoulet.

Keep in mind, I’m a newbie, but this was fun stuff for me. Had a real case of dumb luck yesterday. Stopped by the store in town and noticed one lone bottle sitting next to a group of wines I’d looked at 4x already in the last 2 weeks, so knew it was new. I’d seen the name from reading Paso threads here on berserkers, but my phone wouldn’t connect to either winecellar or vivino and my wife was waiting in the car so I just went for it. 2016 Halter Ranch cab for $26. There are no 2016’s anywhere on any of the shelves at this shop, so that was the first thing that caught my eye. I grabbed it. Figured why not. Once I was home and able to look it up, I saw that when it was available it regularly sold for $55-60. After decanting for ~45 minutes we tried it. SO good! I won’t even try to wax poetic the way you guys can about flavors and undercurrents and textures and layers, but in simpleton terms, it was damn tasty. Went back today and asked if they had any more. Nope. All gone. Don’t even have any 2017’s. Scoured the internet, but nothing to be found. Glad I at least got to try it.

I bought a few bottles of the 2013 Volnay 1er Cru St. Jean on winebid a while back, which I understand is a blend of Taillepieds and Brouillards, and was probably made because there wasn't enough of those vineyards to bottle separately in 2013. Maybe the 1993 is a similar blend? Pascal Roblet is the partner (or husband?) of Cecile Tremblay, isn't he?

Not sure, he makes a Robardelle-based 1er Cru blend that today goes by the name "Les Vignes de Madeleine", so not sure if that's the new manifestation of St. Jean or a different cuvée.... I'll ask him in due course.

He and Cécile separated in the mid-2000s, but yes, I believe that was the case.

Six pack of Roederer Anderson Valley Brut. Hard to beat this at $16 a bottle.

I figured there would be some disappointed souls around here. There were only 6 bottles available though 30 min after the email. Not sure if they had more earlier.

btw...$399 Wine.com - $50 for the uncork50 code.
Got a say...in the back of my mind I was a little leary that these bottles would make it to my cellar as advertised? With the 'Wine.com delivery fail' thread, and frankly too good too be true pricing. Well...here them are!!! And they ARE 2008's! [dance.gif]

Also wine purchases:
(6) NV Laherte Frères Champagne Rosé de Meunier Extra Brut
(6) 2013 Bouchard Père et Fils Corton-Le Corton
