Seriously though, 1921 Montrose tastes more like a '70s Monte Bello or a '60s Unico than an almost-100-year-old Bordeaux. I wonder if they used Baltic oak back in 1921? Supposedly that has more aromatic lactones than French oak.
I've never had the pleasure but if pressed to pick a bdx or two that would last forever, this would be one.

Every time I drink a Montrose, almost regardless of vintage, my reaction is: "damn, this is going to be really awesome someday."
That is indeed interesting. My first vintage of Montrose in the cellar is the 2006. Didn't know too much about wine back then.. Will be interesting to see if it turns out to something one day.. Tried a bottle of it in 2018 I think.. of course it was way to premature..very hard to judge..but certainly looking forward to trying out the 2016 and 2019...
I bet you'd love the 06 now, but you would regret not waiting another 5 years. And in 5 years, 5 years more

I just copied the list from the auction and didn't really look at it. I should have consolidated the separate auctions into one. As with most things, the lazy approach probably isn't the best approach :)
