More Falkenstein.
Nice to see all this love for Falkenstein. I'll have to try some
At between 25 and 35 a bottle from a great vintage I can drink these for years. Plus my in laws love riesling so why not.

Jim: Price on Sigalas seems to be ratcheting up these days..Might I ask what the 2019 is going for? Am a big fan of Sigalas, just finished the last of my 2018 stash....Also, what was the very good Assyrtiko from another producer?

thanks, Jon

And I've actually lost track of how many cases of Goodfellow I've got coming. Oops! Gotta be at least 3 or 4. Might be more.

1 mag 2018 Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Spatlese #5 (Hammer at WineBid was $42 less than last year’s US EP price for this mag; the 6 mags offered this week all sold at that low price)

1 1986 Certan de May (This has been on my radar since a great bottle at Dale’s house a couple years ago that suggested it was just heading into prime time)

Found some 18’ Gonon at the grocery store for $70 with an extra 10% off, felt like a score compared to how much I normally see them being sold for.

Seriously though, 1921 Montrose tastes more like a '70s Monte Bello or a '60s Unico than an almost-100-year-old Bordeaux. I wonder if they used Baltic oak back in 1921? Supposedly that has more aromatic lactones than French oak.

Still drinking through my 17s
Seriously though, 1921 Montrose tastes more like a '70s Monte Bello or a '60s Unico than an almost-100-year-old Bordeaux. I wonder if they used Baltic oak back in 1921? Supposedly that has more aromatic lactones than French oak.
I've never had the pleasure but if pressed to pick a bdx or two that would last forever, this would be one.

Every time I drink a Montrose, almost regardless of vintage, my reaction is: "damn, this is going to be really awesome someday."

I've yet to have a 'wow' moment with Montrose. It's almost always too tight and unyielding. 1921 sounds like it should be about ready... [cheers.gif]

That is indeed interesting. My first vintage of Montrose in the cellar is the 2006. Didn't know too much about wine back then.. Will be interesting to see if it turns out to something one day.. Tried a bottle of it in 2018 I think.. of course it was way to premature..very hard to judge..but certainly looking forward to trying out the 2016 and 2019...
