2016 Stone the Crow Premiere Napa

Never had a premiere Napa wine. Hopefully it’s as impressive as I’ve heard

A local restaurant offering some pretty good deals:

2 x 2008 Dom Perignon @ $150
2 x 2015 Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT @ $95
1 x 2012 M. Chapoutier Côte-Rôtie La Mordorée @ $61

The Dom wasn't an amazing deal, but there was no shipping involved and it was in good storage conditions. The other two were pretty good deals. I tried to get a few more, but was told they were sold out.

I was impressed with the 2nd wine "Segla" (or is it "Rauzan"?) from this vintage recently. I suspect that the main product be on a higher satisfaction level.

It's Segla. Or at least it is in modern times. The only one I've had was 2012 and it was very nice (for what it is)

Popped into a local retailer who look dead today. Grabbed some vino for the wife, including a nice little 2010 Chateau de Fieuzal, Pessac-Leognan, for myself, only to hear the nice lady tell me this has been the best month that they have ever had. Of course, they’re are in the wealthiest neighborhood in Central Florida! Doh.

Despite getting into two bidding wars I lost out on most of the wines from last week's winebid including two 2010 Rollins which got me bidding in the first place - a Fretille and a Les Vergelesses.

But I did pick up a 1990 Louviere and a 1986 Drouhin Chablis Vaudesir

Those La Louvieres were nicely priced. I think that vintage is in the “drink now or sooner” column.

My last two just last year were lovely but definitely starting the slop down. But again, really lovely. MarkG says the magnums are great.

Yep, but I don't think he really promotes it, and I would think it is a very small operation. I am sure it helps in understanding the technicalities of making wine, which must surely help in discussions with winemakers.

It's an excellent Chenin Blanc. Less Vouvray and more Savennieres. I bought more after I tried a bottle.

I had a 2010 Fichots from Rollin a few months ago - it was a bit chewy but very nice for the first hour - better nose than I usually get from the Fichots - but then closed down pretty hard. No rush if you have them.

I had a 2010 Fichots from Rollin a few months ago - it was a bit chewy but very nice for the first hour - better nose than I usually get from the Fichots - but then closed down pretty hard. No rush if you have them.
I don't usually buy Fichots. A friend of mine bought some from that auction though.
Ripe fruit isn't necessarily a flaw.
