Bought a bunch of 2018 Huets. I intend to purchase more Loire this year. We had a noble white tasting last year and I was surprised how much I liked Chenin and SB up against the Chards and Rieslings. Even liked Moscato!

Huet is one of the world’s great wine estates. Don’t overlook the demi-secs and the secs - yumola.

2017 Ovid experiment F2.7
2018 Ovid experiment W5.8
2017 Bryant Family DB4

Ovid only sold their experiments in 6 packs this year. Wasn’t too thrilled about that to be honest.

Bryant Family Vineyard Cab for 2017 is up to $550/bottle. Easy pass. However their db4 in my opinion is still a good buy at $125. I like this blend when the Cab(73%) to Merlot(19%) ratio is more toward the Cab.....like this year.

I try to think of this as equivalent to high-end right bank Bordeaux in all its delicious plummy, earthy glory, which makes the $85 pricing much more bearable than if you compare it to other cru Beaujolais [cheers.gif]

I don’t get it. When Coudert and Desvignes, not to mention others, are a fraction of the price, what’s the point of Pi? Plus, I‘ve not been wowed by Pi. It’s good but ....

I'm not a Beaujolais expert at all, but was very taken by a 2007 that Andy K kindly opened for me - taken enough to seek out more 3.14 to age in the hope that it will one day reach those heights. But to your point I should try out those other names

Three Sticks Price Family 2017. Pretty decent wine after a 2 hour decant, but I found this wine to be a teaser. After about 4 hours of decant the taste completely fell off. Do you find all find this common with California reds? Strong taste in the first couple hours, but after some time the wine just falls off a cliff.

A few bottles of 2016 Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colledila (I asked Francesco Ricasoli to sign them). Very young; but impressed me greatly (decanted for 2+ hours, served with grilled steaks). Right up my alley as regards Tuscan red.

No one buying the new Enfield release?

2017 Hennessey Ridge "No Spray" Napa Cabernet - 264 bottles produced.
Sometimes, in the face of great challenge, something special is born. 2017 was an extremely challenging growing season at Hennessey Ridge, but the result was a crop of tiny, powerful and concentrated berries - packed with layers of flavor, but only 12.4% alcohol - defying convention that wine must be high in alcohol to achieve such depth. A unicorn wine - with ripeness and intensity that do not match its 12.4% alcohol. Powerful and structured, yet soft and pure in a way that is quite unique. Napa Cab with a sense of place.

2014 Clos Rougeard (Foucault) Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux
2014 Clos Rougeard (Foucault) Saumur-Champigny

NNNNNnoooooooo!!!!!!!!

I’d do naughty things for 2014 Rougeard.

I’ve been cut off. Nobody loves me anymore.

Very cool for you that you got an allocation!

Evidently I’m all talk and my naughty meter has a limiter. I was offered some a very very naughty prices, yikes with Le Bourg up to $450 per, and passed on several offerings. Grabbed some Le Clos - thanks to an awesome fellow Berserker in Cali that muled for me [cheers.gif] - for a relatively naughty price but not like OTT kink naughty.

Rougeard is DTM.

Picked up some Chateau Petit Gravet Aine 2016, which admittedly is more glossy than I normally go, I do like the heavy Cab Franc cut at 80%. It’s like a poor man’s Les Carmes Haut Brion. I have that estate’s 2016 as well.

Also picked up an additional 2014 Rougeard, the Les Poyeux.
