I’m with you, Sarah, love them very dry. Wish my wife liked them as much as I did, she prefers Sav Blanc. So, we normally end up drinking different things. Wanted to order Billecart-Salmon rouge last night at a place that had a 750 on menu for $100, she went Sancerre.
Sounds like that was one of those cases where you buy the bottle and bring home what you don't finish! If you don't finish... :)

I am very, very lucky with my spouse and Riesling. We've both always loved it, but he was buying dry and then GGs before pretty much anyone in the US knew what they were, and so brought a ton of it to the marriage in his dowry. Now, with our joint purchases in general at all time lows, dry Germans make up the bulk of what we buy overall from year to year. Of that, it's about 80% dry, then some halbtroken, feinherb, and a few kabinett for drinking with Thai and Vietnamese food, mostly.

If your wife prefers Sauv Blanc to dry Keller, she's a lost cause. Condolences. I'm sure has other fine qualities. ;-)

6x 1986 VCC
I have had several 1986 Pomerols and not found any that were as exciting as their equivalents in other vintages. Is VCC an exception?

A smattering of 2016 Chasse Spleen in 375.

Was just chatting with Corey and MarcF about how much we love this format, and I stumbled across these. Leve rated it 88, so I know I will love it! I kid, in part, as his note clearly describes what I like in a Cru Bdx.

I think it's underrated, the negative view of right bank 1986s becoming something of a self fulfilling prophesy and the Cabernet at VCC likely helping, too. But also, for 90 EUR from a perfect cellar, what's not to like?

2014/2015 Qupe Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard Syrah in 375s. Whenever I stumble on a good deal for half bottles I load up. I'm likely to add a couple more cases to my order.

I bought back a total of 24 bottles of champagne through JFK, with my final destination being Los Angeles the next morning. Global entry made it REALLY easy to walk right out (they had no questions on what you brought back or anything, just a photo and you turn in the slip and you’re all done). I was trying to be good and I walked into the declare items line upon exit of the terminal and the customs officer just asked why I bothered to stop, and waved me through. So, long story short, no tariffs or taxes applied.

Be careful with ‘83. It’s not the most reliable of the well known vintages.

Now that's some superb Armagnac!
I am pondering bottles of the 79 and 86 laberdolive

I have been on a bit of a Laberdolive kick lately, after a stunning 1962, and occasionally it floats around French brokers, largely when restaurants close down I suspect.

2014 Cos d'Estournel, $114.99 at my local (Park Meadows) Costco; cleaned them out. Good use of various, unused cash cards we'd accumulated.
You didn’t save any for me! Any other good deals there? I haven’t been in a few weeks.

Aubert x3, Myriad x2
With RM, Maybach looming, plus 2 local sales that offer particularly good deals on the order of 25-40% off... Yes, this will be a rough 1st quarter. I will show some restraint with offers in the 2nd...

Do it!

I think 1979 was Pierre Laberdolive's first vintage in charge.

+1 the 1979 is beautiful. So is the pre-phyloxerra 1923 for that matter :)
Ripe fruit isn't necessarily a flaw.

At that price, I would have grabbed it all.
I did, there were only six. Also:

1x 1982 Lynch Bages
4x 1989 Lynch Bages
3x 1982 Ducru Beaucaillou
3x 1982 Pichon Lalande

You got all those for 90 each??

there was some Poyferrè that was tempting, and the Monsanto Riserva sub $20 is totally no-brainer. Everything else, ugh

On a different note/source, grabbed 2 more Krug 168eme today, because.

Just a reminder, from now until Thursday January 16th, we'll continue to donate 50% of all wine sales* to the charities we've chosen to support:
• SA Bushfire Appeal
• WWF Australia Bushfire Emergency
