2008 Francois Cotat Les Culs de Beaujeu

2016 Ridge Lytton Springs...bunches @$27!
Was that you on the Cotat at Winebid? The 2008 is a phenomenal wine.

I've been loving recent vintages...want to try some with a little age. Looking forward to it!

I think I’ve said this before, but if I could swap all my Grand Côte for Culs de Beaujeu, I’d do it in a heart beat. And 2008 to my taste is the best F. Cotat vintage since 1996 with the caveat that some others are still youngish. Enjoy!!

I found '08 Cristal for $207.
10% discount for a mixed case with everyday crap takes it below $190 so I bought the three the store had in stock.

We've enjoyed the regular 1990 Taittinger vintage so I bit the bullet on a 1990 Taittinger Comtes at auction champagne.gif

Liquid Farm is running a sale, and I bought a bunch of chard and rose. With club members discount the case of rose was $199! Four buck shipping too. 🤗

Popped over to The Barlow in Sebastopol yesterday and tasted through some Pax wines. Came away with a bottle of the 2017 North Coast Syrah. Magical stuff, and in some ways prettier and more immediately accessible than the SVD bottlings, and at half the price, too.

The same day I was also up at Ridge at their zins, blends, and bbq event and managed to resist buying any of the Demostene Ranch Zin/Carignane blend, but it's only a matter of time...that is a swell wine.

Ok, I succumbed. A couple bottles of the 08 Bollinger GA.

That is 27 bottles of champagne I have bought since the beginning of 2017. That might exceed the number of bottles of it I bought in the first 30+ years of cellaring wine.

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only latecomer to Champagne, though I’ve bought at least 10 times more bottles in the past 3 years than I did over the prior 20.

I just did a vertical tasting of for 6 vintages from 2016 - 2010 of Esprit de Tablas at Tablas Creek. This isn't my most preferred style of wine, but I still think they're very good to great (89 - 91 pts, give or take) with at least a few years on them. Personally, I would hold the 2016 for at least 3 - 10 years, but if you open it anytime soon, I think it benefits from a lot of air. A recent 2012 we had at home was significantly better on the 3rd night (and I wish we just laid it down for several more years).

This wine isn't worth $60 - $70 to me, but I think I'd buy a few for up to $35 or so.

Good deal!

Interesting, thanks. I’ve always thought Tablas was a bit more restrained (but maybe not?) which is why I gave it a try at the blowout price. Not usually on my radar but looking forward to trying the producer anyways.
