A few stray bottles of 2016 Carmes Haut Brion at Total Wine priced at what I assume is their original $90.

Just a bit of 2015 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel #22 and 2015 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel #9. I'm really into Rieslings right now.

Wandered into a local wine store I don’t visit often Saturday. Due to the changes in liquor laws and opening wine sales to grocery stores the standalone stores have been hit hard. This particular store was clearing out a selection of wine for $9.99. Bought some bottles to try. Most notable was three bottles each of Schug Pinot Noir (16) and Merlot (13). Also grabbed some bottles of The Paring and some random southern Rhône’s that normally retail in the $30’s. Lastly, grabbed a few bottles of Georges Dubœuf Beaujolais Nouveau for $5. Figured for these prices willing to take a chance.

Anyone else ever find a big closeout? Have any corked wines as a result?

I logged into the Myriad website and there it was offered (along with a 3L "regular" 2016 Dr. Crane Cab). I've never bought a 3L before, but I couldn't resist! champagne.gif

2017 Chateau Thivin Cote de Brouilly (magnums)
2017 Daniel Bouland Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Foudre #4 and #7
2017 Foillard Morgon Côte du Py

Until recently test driving the Thiven, I had no idea that Beaujolais could be mighty fine juice. Reading this forum continually broadens my horizons.

Visited the grand opening of a new Total Wine store in my town (Braintree, MA) and came away with three bottles:
-2017 Patricia Green Pinot Noir Reserve . . . will be our first PG wine
-2015 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico . . . recent favorable TN here with other positive comments
-2016 Ravines Dry Riesling . . . a Finger Lakes, NY bottling that we have enjoyed before

Haven’t been in this thread for a few years, as I’ve stopped buying. But in San Sebastián, a wine shop had some old Rioja with butt ugly, mostly destroyed labels (with unsound corks) at 20-30 euros for wines like Viña Royal 1964 by Franco-Espanolas. I tried one and was happy. Drinking my second and thrilled! Not only alive, but lasted until day 2 (only because I’m on a strict intake limit).

Also picked up a third Viña Royal, a Viña Monty 64 for 25 euros and a Viña Pomal 55 for 50 euros. If he shipped to the US, I would have cleaned him out. If it was my last stop in Spain instead of my first, ditto.
