14 barthod? Aren’t they on 16 now?
Not here, surely. The importer is releasing 14 in Norway. Her husband’s wines are on 13, even.

Really loved his 04 and 07.

I have a 92 buried away.

Really jealous of Jayson grabbing that 90 VCC. Was just looking at some 2011 today.

look at you guys trying to corner the market on Faurie and artificially pumping the value just cause a guy retires so you can create a shadow wine conspiracy to sell wine.

I’ve picked up a ton of this lately—including a few in .375. Both formats drinking great—and a little less “guilt” opening regularly because of the relative price point to other ‘82’s of comparable quality.

The LCBO as a socialistic monopoly sells with a standard and unvarying percentage mark-up to their cost for all products. Most of the time that means high prices but for some items it means if you're lucky enough to win the lottery to be allowed to buy a single bottle things like a 2015 DRC RC is $4,435CAD ($3,322 real dollars). My wife is even letting me keep it! [snort.gif]

This board is a terrible influence on me. I was supposed to not buy wine in December/Jan. Instead, in the last month I've made the following purchases:

2013 Domaine Aurelien Verdet Chambolle-Musigny Les Condemennes
2014 Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir
2014 Black Kite Kite's Rest Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
2014 Ridge York Creek Napa Valley Petite Sirah
2015 Domaine Lécheneaut Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers
2015 Domaine de L'Arlot Nuit-St-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Fôrets St. Georges
2015 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Le Corton Grand Cru
2015 Jacumin Chateauneuf du Pape La Begude des Papes
2015 J.L. Chave Selection Offerus Saint-Joseph
2015 Ridge Monte Bello - 1.5L
2016 Domaine Clos des Cazaux Gigondas La Tour Sarrazine
2016 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Blanc
2016 Sleeper Knights Valley Sauvignon Blanc - 1.5L
2016 Acumen Mountainside Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
2016 Anthill Farms Sonoma Coast Syrah
2017 Turnbull Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
2017 Aubert CIX Estate Vineyard Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
2017 Aubert Eastside Vineyard Russian River Chardonnay
2017 Aubert Larry Hyde & Sons Vineyard Carneros Chardonnay
2017 RAEN Sonoma Coast Royal St. Roberts Cuvee
2017 RAEN Fort Ross-Seaview Home Field Vineyard
2017 RAEN Freestone Occidental Bodega Vineyard

Honest question, how do you guys stick to a budget? I set a budget and then something exciting comes up, e.g. Aubert, and then blow through it [oops.gif]

I don’t budget either but I go through periods where I restrict myself to only buying things on a preset shortlist (e.g. pre-2010 Pierre Peters Chetillons). So the only purchase I’ve made in the last month has been 2002 and 2009 of the same

I recently picked up several bottles of an excellent everyday drinker classic Northern Rhone Syrah for $18/bottle: 2017 Yves Cuilleron Les Vignes d'a Cote Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah. A Neal Rosenthal import, it sings right from the cork pull and it is still singing three days later.

I was chatting with François-Xavier Maroteaux at the 2016 UGC tasting in Chicago this evening—he was lamenting the fact that there wasn’t a lot of the ‘82 left at the chateau when his family bought it in 1988—it had been sold off. Anyway—really great guy and a gem of a wine. It seemed like prices jumped a fair amount in the latest HDH auction so maybe others are discovering it.

Pax Castelli-Knight and Griffin's Lair Syrah (3x each) from the winery - offering came out yesterday.

I was waffling, then decided to open a 2010 Pax Alder Springs. The wine blew me away, and sealed the deal.
