Great price on it too. Crush usually has pretty sharp pricing but this was well below market

Kind of funny, as I’m regularly criticizing the modern direction of St. Emilion, This morning I bought a case of 2018 La Gaffeliere. Not a wine that I would ordinarily buy, but the wine club at my country club always has tremendous offerings, this one at $41 per bottle. I have no earthly idea how they achieved that price, but I snatched up a case as a flyer. At the very least, I know my family and friends will like this one.

Huh? Come on Robert; if I can't rely on you vs St E, what is there to rely on?

This is like buying a gorgeous suit that is three sizes too small just because it is 70% off.

Dear diary,
I have not bought anything for a couple of weeks apart from some magnums of Magdelaine 1998 (they don’t count-it’s Magdelaine which has hall pass in my cellar).

It is not that I have lost the urge to buy, it is just that everything is so bloody expensive these days, and buying them with a fullish cellar makes absolutely no sense. My normal targets are up 25-30%. I am hoping this continues for a while, my wallet need a break.

When Magdelaine becomes cultish and hits four figures, then I might decide to sell. Until then I am just going to drink them.

I think my first offer was a month or so ago. £250/mag in bond seems to be the price, which basically is the same as 2 bottles on the secondary market. I've not seen it widely offered yet - Hedonism have some at circa £300 a mag I think.

First offer was to customers who had bought bottles of the 08 CdeC only. Second one was cold calling an account manager.

Not opening any bottles in May, but still in the game with a few 2018 Pierre Luneau-Papin, Muscadet 'Clos des Allees' from my local wine monger.
