I haven't but loved the earlier vintages I've tried. 2012 seems like a safe bet.
I had stopped buying for a while as the price escalated but saw a bottle for a decent price and decided to try it.

Curious if you tried the Montjolys; pricing is a bit steep but I'm itching to buy one to do a side by side with the Chetillons...

heard from a champagne fanatic who's tried both side-by-side that it is not nearly at the level of chetillons and definitely not worth the premium, which seems right now a function of its rarity.

I know I said I was done, but this store closing increased its discount to 50%..

I came away with:

2015 Talley Rosemary @33
2016 Cayuse Camaspelo @51
2015 La Jota cab franc @48
2014 Terra Valentine Wurtele vynd cab sauv @43

It’s a bit all over the place (kind of like my taste) but they should all be enjoyable and good values..

recent cellar release? Georges Mugneret died in 88, don’t know when he started. Wouldn’t of course been labeled M-G back then. Funny that they used an old school label. Great fill and find!

From Big Basin, Santa Cruz Mountains AVA.

Rattlesnake Rock Syrah 2015
62 Terraces Syrah 2015
Old Corral Pinot Noir 2016

This vintner is one with a track record of supporting Falltacular, and, thus Laura's House. Good wine and supportive of a worthy cause. 2 thumbs up.

Actually Georges Mugneret's father married a Gibourg in 1928 and the first vintage of Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg was 1933. Vines that Georges acquired personally he labelled Georges Mugneret, whereas the family holdings that pre-dated him were labelled Mugneret-Gibourg. The two labels co-existed until 2009 when they were merged into Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg.

recent cellar release? Georges Mugneret died in 88, don’t know when he started. Wouldn’t of course been labeled M-G back then. Funny that they used an old school label. Great fill and find!
Very very cool info. Thanks for the photo, as well! Absolutely awesome bottles.

No, only the Comtes is a mag. Regular format Sauternes is difficult enough to finish in one sitting. I don’t recall a single time I’ve bought a magnum of any sweet white. Half bottles very many.
