The Coche is especially exciting! This parcel derives from one of the original purchases by Léon Coche, and it was replanted in 1987, so I am guessing that in 1980 the vines were pretty old.

Just picked up two cases of Belle Pente, one of my favourite Oregon producers. All 2016 Pinot Noir.... 6 of the Estate Reserve and 9 each of the Murto and Belle Pente vineyard.

PS I don’t know how Brian’s wines don’t have a bigger following. Simply sublime.

I’ve only had the Egly and 16 Pontet from that group, but I suspect you’ll be very happy with both. Positive changes at the Chateau exemplified in 2015/16 Pontet Canet deserve their own thread!

I have both vintages and I'm looking forward to trying them in few years. Or maybe I will just pop one of each soon. What type of changes did you feel Pontet had? How was it different from let's say 2014?

So I find 15 and 16 to be distinctly more elegant wines in terms of structure compared to every other BDX I've tasted from those vintages. It's a relative assessment, because of course, they are not light wines by any stretch, but next to their peers (I've had 15 of Rauzan Segla, Leoville Barton, Lynch Bages, Pichon Baron, Calon Segur, SHL and Pontet, either side by side or in close succession). The wines from Pontet are far less dense, less tannic, and come across as very classic. They are also quite enjoyable now. I think it has something to do with the biodynamic approach, but more likely something they are doing in the cellar, as Montrose is all bio as well I believe but a much larger scaled wine and when young, a bit monolithic for my taste. As I said, I think it actually deserves a thread of its own! You should pop one of whatever you have more of and let us know what you think.

My local guy had it for $50, and easy grab for classic Napa. Gave one as a gift at a cocktail party tonight, took the other two home to mama!

Was able to snag the 1994 Guigal Landonne & Turque from the Envoyer offering today. Birth year for my brother and I suspect that 1994 may be a little bit underrated as a N Rhone vintage...

My guess is that the seller mistakenly put the price of a 75cl bottle instead of the Magnum price. I'll share the case with a friend, hope he'll find another opportunity like this next time [highfive.gif]

Quilceda Creek 2007 Palengat – have only had their CVR before and I thought it was quite good for a big, oaky Washington cab. I was just added to the mailing list for 2020, so I'm gonna give the Palengat a shot to see if QC is worth the entry fee for me.
