That’s like a rounding error in Ned’s budget.

3x Domaine Groffier/Piat Pere et Fils, Bonnes Mares 1972

Anyone have any experience with Piat?
They were quite serious at one point, an old noble family négoce based in Romanèche (IIRC), they bottled some quite grand things: I have seen '66 Rousseau Chambertin under their label and own a bottle of 1945 Griotte-Chambertin that might accompany my Christmas rib roast. Since that was also a good era for Groffier the stars seem aligned.
Great news - thanks for the update:-)

When I saw them I remembered drinking a few good Piat bottlings a few years ago but couldn't find my notes. Still, I presumed it definitely was worth a stab at £90 a bottle. Now that I've had a look I actually have a couple of '66 Corton Charlemagnes from them stashed away.

That Griotte sounds like a treat!

7 bottles of 2016 Bevan Cellars Ontogeny, a guilty pleasure. The plan is to enjoy one in the short term, and cellar the rest for a while. I found the 2014 drinking quite well now. Considering adding another 3 pack of William & Mary Cabernet based on the positive reviews here, and Cellar Tracker, as well.

Forgive me for being a bad influence, but you should go for it. I bought the first vintage, already, have opened 2 and been chomping at the bit to open the third. They drink great young, but will improve. Stupidly didnt buy last year, and this year grabbed a 3 pack again. I drink a lot of cabs and to me there is no better wine for the same money. I am getting a few more. I do think as momentum builds it could become either a cult or a waiting list wine, considering that everyone who tries it, becomes a fan. No affiliation.

I just purchased and drank the 2016 cazatiers. Was pretty good and will pick up more. Was wondering between the clos du Roy and myglands — did either of them particularly pop out to you for aging out 5 years? The clos du Roy has more vocal fans it seems

In my experience both Clos du Roy and Myglands are excellent, but I haven’t yet tasted both from the same vintage, nor have I had any with much age. I expect they will both age well, though. I loved the 2010 Roy early on and CT notes sound like it’s doing quite well.

I know it's not a wine but I'm quite pleased I came across it. Not often you see a blend of old Cognacs and Armagnacs like this. I imagine it must have been bottled for Christmas from the dregs of the best demijohns of brandy kept at the old department store in London. More than a year after the supply lines to France had been cut off it was starting to get difficult to get a hold of good liquor in the UK, so a small miracle that this bottle survived the war. Always nice to be able to imagine a compelling story behind a bottle.

A friend of mine called me from Chamber Street where he had uncovered different cuvees of Vallana Spannas from 1958. Since we are in the process of putting together a 60th birthday party, I grabbed a bottle of 3 different cuvees.

Ten days after receiving hand-delivery of my 3 bottles of the 2016, courtesy of Seth Rosenberg, I bought a pair of 2017 Falkenstein Niedermenniger Herrenberg Riesling Spätlese feinherb (AP 3). Now on tap after finishing the 2017 Euchariusberg Kabinett on which I posted a note.

I did some thinking, and decided to add another 3 pack of the W&M Cabernet! I figure I can have a few on the young side with no guilt, and go from there.
