It kind of bothers me when people pronounce this as “petite verdot” and I just about blew my gasket when I saw “petite verdot” in print on the back label of a wine.
I seem like the only person pronouncing it “petty,” am I just wrong?
It’s “Ptee verhdoh” where the “Pt” is almost a single syllable. The “er” rhymes with “air” in English, and the “rh” is from the back of the throat with a bit of a gallic glottal stop.
