Anyone else tried theirs from WB day? It pains me to say this as I love the Cabot syrahs, but I opened the 07 Merlot last night and sure didn’t appeal to me. Going to give it another shot tonight. It was very austere, dusty, and short (with some heat on the nose). Almost more of what I would expect from an under-ripe cab franc.
To be fair, maybe my “merlot-is-a-fruit-bomb-wine” stereotype was is in force. Just curious if others found the same, I had a bad bottle, or I’m just way off on my merlot palate…
My recent 05 Klamath I had was a great wine (for $20!). I felt like I found more of the round merlot softening up that bottle.
