How was this?
Quite good, only gave it about an hour of air time. Seemed more simple than past bottles.

1996 Dom - utterly disappointing. Stored since release. Flat and dull but likely not corked (I'm more sensitive to TCA that just about any other human). Oh well.
2014 C Bouchard Haute Lemble - intellectual, fun and actually a bit tight over 90 minutes.
NV Selosse Initial - typically oxidative but with bursts of citrus coming through. Love this stuff
2014 Bonneau du Martray - young, powerful -- fantastic with lobster tails
2010 PYCM Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain - in a great place. Great balance and so flavorful.
2008 Mugneret-Gibourg Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes - typical MG magic. Enough said.
2015 Weingut Keller Riesling von der Fels - I don't like much Riesling, but I adore this wine. Leftovers even held up well after three days in the refrigerator.

Personally I think this vintage of Sociando needs much more time to shine. The 2000 is drinking beautifully right now.

How was the KL? I had this bottle last night and was actually disappointed.
I am not sure if mine saw some heat but it seemed really off and shut down and I believe I've had 1 or 2 similar examples with this wine.

2004 Ridge California Santa Cruz 2004:
We enjoyed this with steaks last night, and it held up well to the heavy meal.
Decanted for 2 hrs or so.
On the nose this was still fragrant, with dark fruit and tobacco notes.
The fruit was still there on the palate, but seemed to be fading a little. and still with good acid. The tannins were noticeable but not over-bearing.

This wine seems to be at its peak or just beyond. We enjoyed it.

Very good zin, esp. with a little bit of air. I’ve liked every bottle of Beekeeper Zinfandel I’ve had. Wish they were less expensive.

2015 Fabien Collonge Chiroubles L’Aurore des Côtes
Quite deep color with some magenta at the rim. Black cherry, dark berries, and some baking spice on the nose. Very lush and fruity but with a little grip too. Really outstanding QPR.

Also had a glass of:

2011 Les Crêtes Chardonnay Valle d'Aosta
I was excited to see a 6-Pack of 2010 Vietti Barolo laying on the floor. Opened it and found 6 bottles of this, instead. Sigh. Under screw cap, it was still alive and kicking. Quite good, actually. Healthy straw color. Nose of brioche, almonds, and lemon curd. Fullish mouthfeel. As the night wore on, became more like an Alsatian Pinot Gris.

Large-bodied, very ripe fruit and with unwelcome very noticeable high alcohol level that butts in. Not for me.

Had a glass of the 2009 Charmes Chambertin from Geantet-Pansiot out of a double mag at Sohm a few nights ago. The nose was beautiful, almost alternating red and black fruit, but the wine was very angry at being opened so young. After nursing it for much longer than I wanted, the shrill acid receded only for the wood to peek through. The finish was long, but not very pleasant - I could feel the unripe cherry notes for a couple of more hours. I suspect in some years this will be a beautiful wine, but if you have a double mag of this, either give it a very long decant or let it sleep.

2005 Dehlinger Claret

A fantastic expression of RRV Cab. Really good stuff, elegant, and IMO truly distinctive and the real bargain in the Dehlinger lineup. I am no longer on the list but do not overlook this wine if it is offered and let it age.

05 de Courcel Rugiens.

A really special wine. Third bottle of this and this is open and refined and balanced but hyper concentrated. Decades to go but shockingly good now.

2002 Allemand Reynard.

Took two hours or so after the decant to fully open up, but then a gorgeous bottle of Cornas. Black lives with iron on the palate and a long finish. Not the best vintage of Reynard, but with some air an outstanding bottle.

2016 Faury St Joseph VV

Popped and poured, a dead ringer for the 2016 Pax Sonoma Hillsides. Unfurls a kaleidoscopic array of funky, meaty, floral, dark fruited scents. Unlike the Pax, reasonably friendly and approachable in the mouth though it shut down after a couple of hours. Delicious

2002 Allemand Reynard.

Took two hours or so after the decant to fully open up, but then a gorgeous bottle of Cornas. Black lives with iron on the palate and a long finish. Not the best vintage of Reynard, but with some air an outstanding bottle.
Thanks for this; I have an ‘04 on deck and will make sure to decant in advance
