2018 Goodfellow Richard's Cuvee. I had been drinking virtually nothing but 1er Chablis lately and forgot what fruit in Chardonnay was like. Almost threw me off a little bit. I usually enjoy a little more acid but this was delicious on day 1 and I'll be very interested to age my other two bottles for 5-10 years if I can help it (doubtful). Wonderfully balanced and too easy to drink.

2016 Ch Meyney, definitely one of their best wines ever. Very enjoyable even now and will definitely get better.

2009 Dusky Goose Dundee Hills Pinot Noir. Wow. Maybe the best wine I’ve had in 6 months. A little warm on P&P showing 14.5% alc, but integrated after ~30 mins. Still quite primary but deep, complex, and freaking delicious pinot. Started to show more secondary spices after a few hours. Beautiful fruit. Wish I had more, I’ll try to give my 2010s a few more years at least because these can go the distance!

2016 Hudelot-Noellat Bourgogne Rouge
Muted on the nose to begin with, though it came alive on nights 2 and 3 under Repour. Darker toned fruit with interesting spice and herb nuances, though I missed the graceful floral lift of the 2015. Much less interesting on the palate, though displaying good freshness with a certain savor to balance. Decent plus

My first of this Cuvée. Tight and restrained at first. Really came to life after 2 hours. Will wait a few years on the rest of these bottles.

Anthill Campbell Ranch PN 2016

This is really pretty good, with substantial dark fruit without being overly sweet, restrained alcohol, tannins mostly resolved. My preference is for red fruited PN but I liked this more than I expected.

Straightforward Verdelho/Viosinho blend. Very lightly oaked (six months), essentially stoney, acidic and tense, with full mouthed zest and compactness.

2017 Goodfellow Pinot Noir Pumphouse Block Temperance Hill

Quite shut down at first, needed a good couple hours of air to start opening up. A kaleidoscope of red fruits, initially upon opening only got some strawberry but now more raspberry and sour cherry, with a nice complement of dried sage, tea leaves, dried flowers and just a touch of nutmeg. Delicate body with great acidity, a little bitter tannin notable on the finish. Marcus wasn't kidding about letting these wines rest, but as I'm new to Goodfellow wines I had to give one a try.
My Goodfellow mule dropped off 2.5 cases yesterday and after shoehorning then into the cellar I chose this one for last night’s consumption. You’re note is great, as I also noted Sour Cherry and sous bois as well as sage. Also some cranberry. It was excellent and a nice match for some Asian marinated tritip on the grill - the umami from the marinade and forest/mushroom from the wine complimented each other well. I can’t wait for the 2018s. Marcus is absolutely killing it.

Here you go Blair :)

2018 Goodfellow Family Cellars Pinot Noir Lewman Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (4/26/2020)
Pop n' pour into a Grassl Cru glass.

Dark cherry, raspberry, and a touch of black fruits enveloped by a fragrant bouquet of rose petals, cherry blossoms, kitchen cupboard spices, and sous bois. This wine is masculine on the palate, a nice comparison and complement to the light and elegant Whistling Ridge pinot noirs I've recently had from Marcus. Despite the presence of body and refined tannic structure, however, the wine still feels light on the palate.

On the palate, the flavors of dark cherry and red currant waltz with organic soil tones down the tongue towards the back of the throat, carrying with them a vibrant acidity. The finish is long, and shows a nice progression of red to black fruit notes (blackberry, black currant), baking spices, damp leaves, moss, and saddle leather.

To my knowledge this is Marcus' first vintage working with Lewman Vineyard. I believe it has the right balance of fruit (slightly riper than 2017), tannic structure, and acidity to age gracefully in the cellar. Will plan to open my next bottle after 10-12 years. (94 pts.)

Before dinner tonight, with pica-pica of pâté de foie gras, 2010 Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne. Notable typicity, very proper and correct, albeit, for all that, neither exciting nor memorable. That said, for a casual pre-dinner session, it’s more than good enough.

Thanks very much for the Goodfellow tasting note, Brian. Megan recommended that I take 2 of the Lewman in the offering 6-pack because I told her I preferred feminine, nuanced, lighter style pinot noirs. Sounds as if all the components are there in your note - may just need some time in the cellar to bring it all together!

Indeed, a delicious wine! For me, the first really interesting wine from Malartic Lagravière in decades. The 2004 is even a little bit better for my taste.
