2004 Steiner Hund. Just a touch more honey and sweetness than I'd have expected. But with terrific underlying acidity. What a great wine. Going to wait a few years before trying another.

EMH Black Cat 2010. A delightful and somewhat restrained Cabernet. Still youthful. I really like this. Need to get more.
Thanks, Jeff, I appreciate the compliment. That one is long gone. I just checked my inventory at the warehouse and at the shipper, and not a bottle at either location. 5-8 years continues to be a sweet spot for the Black Cats.
What I had not done is check my private stash of the 2010. I have a nice little stash here that I will make available if I sell out of anything too early on BerserkerDay.

Not hugely spectacular, but a solid old-school Nebbiolo from another (smaller) cooperative in the area.

‘93 Chevillon Vaucrains, showing the acidity edge of the vintage but not excessive, drinking well now, the best bottle from the case so far, maybe it’s finally ready.

Happy birthday Brian!

Cross posting from a thread in which this did not belong: I had both the 2002 Dom Ruinart and 2002 Dom Perignon Saturday night, and while I was too occupied by other things to give a fair appraisal I can't say either bowled me over. Both seemed more creamy than zippy, and rather less than I would have expected. It was likely due in large part to the circumstances, but I would have hoped a good performance would have stood out

The SQN grenache I opened was a hit although I barely tasted it, but the 2001 Cos, which I drank after things settled down a little was boss. Love this wine, and think it is drinking brilliantly at the moment (with a long life ahead of it I suspect).

2nd half of the 2010 Salinia Saint Marigold Chardonnay opened the other night. It still tastes like a great sherry made with pure chardonnay extract and one of the best and unique bottles of wine I've ever had.

2013 Hartford ‘Old Vine Zinfandel’ - Russian River Valley

This wine has improved markedly in the year and a half since I last had it. It now rivals the 2014, but is less exuberant and a little more medium-bodied. I don’t know if it’ll improve further, but it’s terrific right now.

Hartford OVZ is just so freaking good! They've been on a terror the past handful of vintages and have quietly snuck up into the top 5 of my favorite zin producers. HIGHLY recommended if you havent tried/had one in a while.

Yao Ming Howell Mountain Cabernet 2015

Wanted to see how it would be a year in after bottling. Definitely still needs time to integrate, but the nose is really great and it is not too full bodied, surprisingly.

Had it with some cheese, and it was nice.

The 1990 Beaucastel was a beauty, fully mature. Everything was showing well overall, but I think for me it's a toss-up between the Dunn and Beaucastel for WOTN.
