Quivet - Jan 17

#1 Post by Chad Richardson » January 6th, 2012, 1:45 pm

Just got Mike's email. This release is the Las Madres Syrah, a new Kenefik Ranch Syrah, and a new Tench Vineyard Sauv Blanc. I had a barrel sample of the Kenefik back in Sept. My limited notes commented on a very expressive nose and a lot of chocolate on the palate, at that point. I liked it a lot, though it was clearly young. Anyone tasted the others (or have better Kenefik notes than what I took)? Email says tasting notes on the web site, but they're not up yet.

I don't need to taste in order to buy Mike's wines. I'm a big fan.

I would like to hear a note on the Sav Blanc since I have no reference point on Mike & the grape.

I'm also really curious about the SB price point. Am hoping Mike posts notes and prices soon, as his email said they were on the site, but I still see last fall's cab details instead.

Quivet always has attractive pricing relative to other Napa producers so it's hard to imagine this will be an exception.

Also, from the email:
Complimentary Shipping on our new Sauvignon Blanc.
Aside from the fact I really want to try a white from Mike, free shipping makes the decision even even easier. Definitely gonna buy and excited to try it.

Email is out. Productions of each wine amounts to about 40 cases. I already ordered mine.
I doubt that these are going to be around very long.

Very interested to get my hands on the Tench Vineyard SB. I have been a huge fan of the Nickel & Nickel Cab that is sourced there, and frankly did not know any whites were planted there. Given the "iffy" conditions for the vintage, I still think Mike can coax some good juice from a great site.
It's not easy being drunk all the time. Everyone would be doing it if it were easy.

Is the first wave only open to previous syrah buyers? I purchased cabs from them last summer but didn't get an offer today. I also had some mix-up with my combined Quivet/Myriad shipment this fall, so am wondering if that's related somehow.

I am a previous Quivet buyer and did not get the release email yesterday also. Sent an email to info@quivetcellars.com and Leah (Mike's wife) responded very quickly and fixed the issue.

I heard back from Mike and sorted it out. I can't imagine nicer people to buy from...makes me happy to support them.

I wish I had known that this was fixable before I took some scraps from a friend's allocation.

I'm new to Quivet but got my email today, what a week after everyone else, and still had an allocation of 4 bottles of each of the syrah's. Looking forward to trying them and an excellent price point! Happy happy!

I picked up all I could of the SB. Even with my limited budget this year I am hoping to stock up on plenty of summer whites.

So, I just popped a 2009 Las Madres and one sip reminded me that I have yet to pull the trigger.
Fragrant, beautiful and 100% US Syrah....
4 please!
