Anyone had 2009 Tablas creek Esprit(red)?

I had this at a tasting pre-release and loved it, but i may have been drunk.

Tasted it at the winery next to the 2004 Esprit about 3 weeks ago. The 2009 is clearly a well built built wine, but it was a little shut down when I tastes it, especially on the nose. If you opened one right now, I’d recommend a healthy 2+ hour decent and hope that helps open things up. And if you’ve got multiple bottles, cellar some of them! The 2004 I tried was heavenly, I bought the last bottle the tasting room had. Best nose I’ve ever experienced with a Paso wine.

Hilarious.

Yeah, the '09 Tablas Esprit is a beauty (tasted out of barrel however) with some serious structure… 40% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 27% Grenache, and 5% Counoise aged in foudre.

I had it at Family Winemakers in SF last Summer. Gorgeous wine but very structured and quite shut down. It took a lot of swirling to get it to reveal what was hiding behind that wall of tannin.
