2007 Chalk Hill Estate Red

Maybach

Thief! I also really enjoy the 2008 Herb Lamb Two Old Dogs. Delivers beautifully and I love the price.

Hard to say, really, but I’d have a hard time finding a cab I enjoy more than good vintages of Mondavi Reserve, like '01.

1996 Bryant Family, tasted in 1999. Blew my mind.

Beringer Private Reserve rarely disappoints and I dig Forman too.

Montelena Estate for me.

Seven Stones is pretty pretty good…

Ridge Monte Bello.

[For the record, I also dabble in some assorted TRB Napa Cabs]

1997 Harlan (a good bottle tasted double blind) is the best cab I’ve ever had. But, if we are picking our tried & true, I’ve enjoyed almost every vintage of Dominus that I have ever had, and it ages very well. 2007 and 2008 were both incredible, although very different.

Schraybach

Tie between 1994 Montelena Estate and the 1997 Lokoya Howell Mountain.

Laurel Glen.

+1. Within reason, the older the better for me on Mondavi Reserve.

For value to performance, I’ll always look to Anderson Conn Valley Reserve, which is always (confusingly to me) available at a significant discount.

For those days I want to pretend that I’m one of the “1%”…I really dig what Continuum is doing.

Let me know when you pop that Continuum, so I can pitch a tent on your lawn.

LOL! You’d be pitching your tent next to my tent:) And then we’d probably be asking each other “did you bring the corkscrew”:)!

Can’t be done. There are so many good Cabs and new innovative winemakers, its hard to pick one.

The 1969 and 1970 Inglenook were outstanding
The 1986 Berringer was kick ass
The 1994 Silver Oak was a sleeper that didn’t show til it aged
The 2000-2004 Araujos were beautiful
The Last of the Colgin Herb Lamb and the Herb Lamb’s Cabs were monumental
The 2006 Ghost Horse Apparition was phenomenal
The 2009 Hobel, after 13 hours open blew them all away

All are different styles, just as my palate has changed. I would love to revisit the early Inglenooks.

Maybe we should make this a “Your favorite current producer” since odds are I won’t be scoring and sweet cab from '67 or whatever… newhere

I’ve had better bottle from other producers but will cast a vote for Spottswoode for making delicious, age worthy wines year in and year out. Vis a vis some already mentioned they are priced fairly and have a track record going back 20 years.
