Seem’s like the economy has hit us all pretty hard, and everybody may be looking for the best bang for the buck wine. So I want to ask everybody what they are drinking these day’s at a fair price $20 and under? Let’s see what we come up with!
Mass market:
Nine North Wine Co Ten Mile “The Broken Road” which is a zin/pets/carignane/barbera blend ~$10 and very nice for the price
Bogle Petite Sirah
Educated Guess Cab
A little more rare:
Carlisle Syrah Sonoma County
Bedrock Syrah Sonoma County
Novy Syrah SLH
All three of these are very good, available under $20 (in fact, I’ve purchased them all under $15 within the last year), and have been consistent over the past few vintages:
Monsanto CCR
Ch. Pesquie “Terrasses”
Vietti “Tre Vigne” Barbera d’Asti
Vincent Ricard Trois Chenes touraine
Pepiere muscadet
Colene Clemens Rose of Pinot
The rebranded CH havens bourriquot is a winner but I think long gone.
Copain Syrah Tous Ensemble – CT shows the average price at less than $20 for the 2007 (which I picked up for $16.50). I had one over the last two nights and it’s in a really nice place right now.
