Rimmerman has gone completely mad. A $500 mystery wine? Maybe he is selling the list of buyers for this offering to every scam artist in the country. Imagine how valuable a list of gullible people that fall for a $500 mystery wine are.
Hey, if it's Screaming Eagle, you could flip it for a fat profit. [rofl.gif]

But, yeah, it's possible (but unlikely) that Rimmerman is doing a swansong take-what-you-can-get before "retiring" by feeding his list to sharks.

I’m sure the $500 bottle is one of those cults, which makes it an even easier pass than the price tag.

On the earlier one, are there any other white Loire producers (besides Huet) who use the “1er Trie” moniker?

1) But eBay (winebid)

2) I entered “1er Trie” (without quotes) into cellartracker.com, then narrowed to Region = "Loire Valley" and then grouped by producer. Here are the results: https://www.cellartracker.com/list.asp? ... ire+Valley

Domaine Huet 97.9% Bottles (10,561)
François Pinon 0.8% Bottles (81)
Domaine des Petits Quarts (Godineau) 0.5% Bottles (58)
Vincent Carême 0.4% Bottles (41)
Foreau Domaine du Clos Naudin 0.2% Bottles (22)
Domaine de Vigneau-Chevreau 0.1% Bottles (9)
Domaine des Aubuisières 0.1% Bottles (9)
Domaine Bourillon Dorléans 0.0% Bottles (1)
Sébastien Brunet 0.0% Bottles (1)
Domaine Sylvain Gaudron 0.0% Bottles (1)

So, yeah, it would be a smart bet that it's Huet. Based on that raw CT data, call it a 98% probability. Add in Garagiste history and call it ~99.8%.

A 500 dollar mystery? Truly a "jumped the shark" moment.

Anyone know anything about the 2016 Halos de Jupiter Chateauneuf du Pape “Adrastee” offered last night? Doesn't appear there is a lot out there so not many tasting notes on previous vintages.

Reporting back on some mysteries...

Pinot Noir Two Vintage Mystery Sonoma: Acacia Russian River Valley '14 and '16
2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Mystery: Corinthian (I've found next to nothing on this, one vivino review claims this was made at Opus One)
2015 Mystery Single Vineyard Pinot Noir Willamette Valley: Angela Estate Abbott Claim (as expected)
2013 Mystery Gran Selezione Chianti Classico: Castello di Gabbiano Gran Selezione Bellezza
Delicious Douro Mystery Red: 2015 Chryseia (pleasantly surprised)

That doesn't seem to be the typical Rimmerman style of Rhone. I always thought the Cambie wines were much more extracted/international etc. Not making a criticism of the style (I have a few of his wines in the cellar) but just thought Garagiste generally favored balanced approaches.

Was this the one he advertised as one of the bigger names in Napa Valley?? That can't be good for sales??

Anyone care to guess at the next 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet mystery offer? The caveat below really gives me pause...
• If you disdain this wine, you will know plenty of friends, family, colleagues, bosses or other that will think you’re the ant’s pants for gifting them a bottle.

• Madonna is not very short but she can get angry.

• Sting used a part for #1

• Similar shapes make for a lovely centerpiece.

Anyone who bit on the 2009 Napa mystery had a chance to pop it yet? I haven't been able to drop by my offsite storage yet, and am a bit weary of JR's Napa mysteries at this point...

I'll guess one of Dave Phinney's wines. Machete or some such.
