TN: 2002 Kilikanoon Shiraz Oracle

2002 Kilikanoon Shiraz Oracle - Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Clare Valley (5/31/2009)
Rich, intense, jammy, alcoholic nose. Big young tannic, hot, and alcoholic. Drinkable, but not pleasant at this point, even with lamb chops. Don’t know if it will come into balance. I will wait a few years to try again. I generally like big Aussie Shiraz. (84 pts.)

Why are you opening that crap in the first place? [wow.gif]

Hey, it’s 19 points better than the one Saxon opened!

Say it aint so,Joe.
A friend brought a bottle to a dinner a few months ago,and so it was on the table with an 82,85 L’Evangile.Poured a glass, looked at him with a weak smile…and Sherri took a sip…looked at me…and quietly poured a bit on her ice cream later.

Seemed to work fine… [dance2.gif]

Ken - I have had the opposite experience each time I have had the '02 Oracle, (for that matter the '03 and '04 as well). I have found those to be more restrained and integrated than most better Shiraz. (Of course I just may be a barbarian.)

Sorry you had such a poor tasting.

Regards, John

I like Aussie Shiraz. I just didn’t like this one.
