Yes, but not as good. Lots of repeats, some new wines and only sometimes a power hour.

I don't think there's a power hour in day 2?

Usually not, but sometimes. It’s been awhile. If they have leftovers from day 1 they may do another with repeats. If they have a ton of different wines (they said they do) then they may do another.

Assuming there is another power hour is it at the same time?

In marathon before this the power hour was on the 2nd day as well - I can't recall the selection or any differences.

In the last marathon's power hours I got 2 bottles of 2006 Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle & the marathon before that I also got a 2011. I was hoping to see more of these this time around.

There's a Vogue Musigny that just popped up at 9:26pm.

I didn't, Wine Spies has the 2015 Champoux red for $55 if you're interested. Not sure how that compares to LB's previous AW offerings, seems like a good (if not crazy low) price relative to online retailers.

This came back up today so I jumped on it, even though I said no more Pinots.

I jumped on it this morning as well. Added to a couple intriguing drinkers in the $20 range, and a Monday To Kalon Reserve it's turning out to be a pretty nice marathon (still pissed I wasn't quick enough for the Aubert or Testamatta, though).

When the Coriolis first came on seeing the Antica Terra & price I knew it was something different than "mainline" AT but bought one anyways & then looked up what it was lol. I saw it come back on later and considered getting another one after I read about it but also said "no more Pinot".

I wouldn't be shocked if you see Testamatta again today. I have a feeling that the importer (too lazy to go grab a bottle I think it was M Modavi Selections or something) & Bibi may have increased their USA inventory footprint and then got hit by COVID because there has been so much of it, especially the 2016s, on promo/sales. Just off the top of my head in the last 9 months I've probably seen 3-5 offers from different retailers/sits. The Casamatta red & rosés are at basically every Grocery Outlet I've seen around California for $12-14.

I'm curious what the website program/algorithm does and when it drops off things that they have a lot of inventory of but don't "sell out" before moving on to the next item. You can see each day that several wines (there were a few yesterday but one I remember was called Drop Out or something like that & StuhlMuller Zinfandel 2018) came up nearly hourly and stick around for a noticeable amount of time before. I.E. if something doesn't sell out in 5 min they move on to the next item and then recycle that in 90 minutes. For Power Hour it feels similar to that but just abbreviating the times to something like 2 minutes before moving to the next.

I wish I had seen the Brittan 2016 Chardonnay at $22 when it came up earlier. We had it earlier in the week, and it is easily worth the regular retail at nearly twice that amount.

I realized I mixed them up as soon as I typed it, and then the offers stopped coming so quickly. Maybe they were beta testing the power hour lineup for a few minutes there

The second power hour was nice.

Not sure if anyone caught it but there was 2014 Mascot for $140 at 3:30 AM. Passed as the list is open and list price is cheaper but still cool to see. Benefit of having my Ipad next to me but goes to show they put out a few interesting things through the night.

Missed the Abreu but picked these up:

Chateau Branon Pessac-Leognan 2010
Justice Poetic Justice Proprietary Red Beckstoffer To Kalon 2016

I am not big on Bordeaux or French wines in general so we'll see how I like that 2010 considering the vintage quality.

I thought I had read on a tasting note somewhere on CT that The Cuveé Unique was just labeling for the US/UK or something like that? It made it out to be that it's the same wine that would be in France without the CU moniker. But I could have misread that.
I guess we'll see because I bought one too!

In addition to yesterday I got:
de Vogue Musigny VV 2017
Raphet Charmes-Charmbertin 2017
Terrior al Limit Les Manyes Priorat 2015

I was close to pulling the trigger on the Ogier La Belle Helen 2010 if I didn't buy the Musigny as I would have rather spent that $ on something closer to being ready to drink. But at least it was a 2017 so it can go in my 2033 Grand Cru Birthday Flight (which is also an X0 age year for me champagne.gif ) along with Mongeard-Mugneret Clos Vouguet & Echezeaux, Pierre Girardin Corton & Pierre Amiot Clos de la Roche + the 2017 Raphet Clos Vougeot & C-C that were on this Power Hour.

The Tattinger 2005 I think was also a decent price (but not by much) but I just missed the last one I clicked to purchase and then it was gone. That was the wine I had the first time I visited Champagne with our first tasting being at Tattinger so there was a novel excuse to buy it!

The Jaboulet La Chapelle's were on this power hour again but it was the 2006 which I got two of in the marathon before this so I passed on it.

I hope the Raphet is the normal bottling, assuming that the CU bottling means more conspicuous oak (which is referenced in a thread here from some time ago).

According to the tech sheets on North Berkley Imports it says for CC CU it's "Aged in older French oak barrels for 18 months (apporx 15% new. Bottled unfined & unfiltered." 50-60 year old vines.

http://www.northberkeleyimports.com/wor ... harmes.pdf

And for the Clos Vougeot I got yesterday it's the same winemaking but 60-100 year old vines.

It’s very tasty and won’t disappoint.
I’m looking forward to it. I had some credits from last marathon from wine they couldn’t fill. Was hoping to load up on champagne this time. Slim Pickens on the bubbles this time.

I hesitated for a second and missed out!

Picked up the following this power hour which im happy about:

Abreu Cabernet Sauvignon Las Posadas Howell Mountain 2012
Peter Michael Chardonnay La Carriere 2017
Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Laurence 2014
I hesitated on the Abreu and it was gone. Wish I got that one.
What was the price on the Abreu?

I thought it was $299 but just checked and was $319. Got to be so quick to get some of these offers during power hour.

What was the Rhone (maybe CdP) magnum during power hour that was like $400-500? I thought it was Clos St jean Deus Ex Machina but looking at wine-searcher it seems too inexpensive. I thought I had screenshot it to look it up later but must have forgotten too.

To follow up on the tech sheet links as I was closing browsers I re-read them again and just noticed: North Berkeley Imports selects individual barrels of wine to import exclusively under our own label, “Cuvée Unique.” These wines, unlike the estate’s regular wines, are bottled unfined and unfiltered."

It was a Clos St Jean Sanctus Sanctorum, I didn't catch the vintage (maybe 2015)? I was tempted, but dropped too much $$ on wine already this week.

Missed it. Ugh. Might just email LastBottle and see if they have any leftovers. That has worked in the past.

Was drinking both their Two Blondes and their Champoux 2016s over yesterday evening to see which one I preferred and wanted to load up on. Was the Champoux for me, my wife switched though and preferred the Two Blondes after about 4hrs of air..

We recently had the 2014 Ciel du Cheval and it was excellent (all 6 of us). At $39 it’s a no brainer!

Was the 2015, this is what I googled at the time https://www.klwines.com/p/i?i=1323905
The price didnt seem too different to what was in the marathon so I passed.

I think the K&L price is the same (or maybe even better)? Too bad because of my state's f-ed up shipping laws I can't order from them anymore.
