What was the price on the Giacosa? This marathon was slow enough that I stopped looking earlier today.

2913 Le Cigare...if you didn’t load up enough (or missed) on the Bonny Doon sale).
I grabbed a bottle, a no-brainer at $25 shipped.

Agreed. I went kinda deep on the BD sale and still grabbed some.

Which of the lutum vineyards are the best? Im into earthy over fruity and have been really into the burgundy nose.

I’m new to Last Bottle. Downloaded the app this morning and I’ve seen maybe 6 or 8 offers come and go already. Is this typical or usually just one bottle per day? Wanted to snag the 2008 champagne but it was gone by the time I could enter my address and credit card info 😯.

Welcome to the highly addictive marathons. They do these a few times a year. It's like a woot off.

They must have a lot of that 2015 ACV Cab. I bought some from them in October at the same price.

Most days, it's one offer/wine per day. About 3 times/year, they have marathon sales where it's a new wine every few seconds/minutes. You need to have all of your info already saved to snag the good stuff.

If it's the 2008 Lanson Gold that you missed, you can rest assured that I'll give it a good home champagne.gif

Yeah that was the one. Would have been my first purchase from them and was trying to load up half a case. Oh well, life goes on. Did happen to grab a couple of the ACV cab. Missed the CdP earlier.

They’ve had quite a few CdPs cycle through; I wouldn’t be surprised if there was another before it’s over.

Nice, I got a couple as well. We will have to make sure to not both bring one to our next offline. 😉

The Twelfth Night Otago Pinot Noir looks interesting enough to take a flyer on. Between the Burghound review and the Cellartracker reviews, I'm in for 6.

I haven't had any of these wines, but I think you got a nice variety at a low-risk price point. I've rarely think the bottles I get from LB aren't worth what I paid for them, so I imagine you should be pretty happy with this variety of wine.

I picked up one as well. First time ordering on LastBottle so not sure what to expect with shipping. I've been on this website for a few weeks now and learned about LastBottle and I've casually looked but have resisted urges.

I've visited Central Otago 3 years ago and really loved their Pinots during my visit - though I have not tried this vineyard yet. My mother in law hosts a 12th day of Christmas party on Jan 6th so I thought this would be nice to bring over for the dinner - 12 day/12 night, hahaha, ok made me laugh. Not a boozy crowd and its a Monday so 1 bottle was sufficient. Hope it arrives in time!

My first time here, too. Started learning about and getting into wine about a year ago. This is my first LB Marathon. I bought:

1. Pinino Brunello di Montalcino Pinone Riserva 2010
2. Le Cecche Barolo 2014
3. Domaine des Bosquets Gigondas la Colline 2013
4. Chateau Mont Thabor Chateauneuf du Pape 2016
5. Grochau Cellars Pinot Noir Eola-Amity 2015
6. Negretti Barolo 2013
7. Domaine de la Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape 2015
8. Ogier Chateauneuf du Pape Reine Jeanne 2016
9. Tassi Brunello di Montalcino Vendemmia 2012
10. La Ferme Du Mont Chateauneuf du Pape 2016
11. Domaine Besson Chablis 1er Cru Montmains 2016
12. La Condamine de Paulignan Minervois 2015

I know I love CdP, brunello, barolo, and chablis so, while I don't know much about any of these producers, the varietals/vintages looked to be good deals compared to what I've seen locally so I figured I'd scoop a bunch up and expand my tasting base. Hope I got some good bottles, but I'm excited to see.

I tabulated my full list and a few orders went in 2 or 3 times while the site was slow to load, so I ended up picking up a few extra bottles. Not the end of the world I suppose. As a noob who has been on a cellar filling spree recently, I am trying to be more specific with my purchases so I am also going to write why each bottle appealed to me.
Regrets are not getting the Leoville Poyferre but am willing to make trades with fellow WBs!

1x NV Gardet premier cru Champagne Blanc de Noir - I know nothing about champagne and am hoping to do some blanc de noir vs blanc de blanc comparisons. I don't think I even like sparkling wine but my wife does so maybe I can pay more attention to it.
3x 2014 Tardy Nuits St George Combes - Good CT rankings in adjacent vintages. Reasonable commentary in Coates' burgundy book. I am really enjoying exploring burgundy right now.
2x 2015 rouget - 15/16 right bank wines have been tasting really nice to me recently. Left banks largely less so at this young age.
4 x2015 lutum pinot noir Santa rosa - All the Wine Berserkers that mentioned this wine combined with some tasting notes on CT referring to it as earthy. Meant to get 1, ended up with 4.
1 x 2011 chateau gazin Pomerol - Most of my right bank experience has been with St Emillion. Looking to explore some pomerol wines. This one has a bit of age.
3x 2011 giscours - 2000 Giscours at a nice dinner at a friend's house inspired me to get into wine (alongside a 2005 mortet mes cinq terroir).
2x 2010 Chateau louviere Pessac Blanc - Meant to get 1 but had good CT reviews and I haven't had much french white wine.
2x 2016 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron. Pauillac - Wish I got 3 :(. This one should last a while and can get filed away to forget about.
4x 09 sauternes La Tour Blanche - Meant to get 1. Good reviews on a classified sauternes for a really good price, nice head start on aging. (though I missed the 1998 sauternes earlier in the marathon).
1x 2008 Champagne Lanson gold - Vintage champagne at the right price point. Wondering if this is one to hang on to for a while.

1x NV Gardet premier cru Champagne Blanc de Noir - I know nothing about champagne and am hoping to do some blanc de noir vs blanc de blanc comparisons. I don't think I even like sparkling wine but my wife does so maybe I can pay more attention to it.
Your preference for BdN vs BdB will largely depend on your overall palate preferences as well as the style of the producer. One way to view "styles" of Champagne is sort of like the sweet-dry scale you see on the backs of Riesling bottles, but instead of sweet-dry, the scale runs from acidic/linear to bready/yeasty/oxidative. This is a VAST oversimplification (i.e. you can have really acidic oxidative wines!), but a good way to start thinking about Champagne. With oxidative wines, the acid will be a little less noticable than with a more mineral-acid driven wine. Generally speaking BdB wines will be more acid/linear/mineral driven than BdN, which are often more fruity/bready/yeasty. Again, this is not always the case, but just some early guideposts for you.

Whether you're a "big red" or a "white wine" kind of person can also have an affect on your preferences. If you're a red wine lover, you might find BdN more appealing as the fruit profile will skew toward strawberries and watermelon rather than citrus or pear/apple. BdN wines can also be more "masculine" while BdB can be more "feminine" (those descriptors are pretty vague and also sexist and I generally try to avoid them, but hopefully you understand my meaning).

To my knowledge, Gardet kind of falls right in the middle on the style scale, so the best bet to determine whether you prefer (in general) BdN vs BdB is to try Gardet's BdB bottling around the same time. It's not 1er cru like their BdN, but this would be a really good side-by-side comparison for you.

3x 2011 giscours - 2000 Giscours at a nice dinner at a friend's house inspired me to get into wine (alongside a 2005 mortet mes cinq terroir).
We love Giscours and they generally don't get the kind of attention I think their wines deserve. That said, 11 was a tough vintage weather wise, but quality estates like Giscours produced good wines. This should be ready to drink in the relatively short-term compared to most Bordeaux, though you may want to tuck 2 of the 3 away to try in 10+ years.

1x 2008 Champagne Lanson gold - Vintage champagne at the right price point. Wondering if this is one to hang on to for a while.
2008 is an amazing vintage and this is all grand cru fruit. It is built for the long haul. Cellar it at least until 2028, if not longer.

Up now for $35 - 2014 Andrew Will Cabernet Sauvignon Mays' Discovery Vineyard
First time I've seen Andrew Will on Last Bottle. I'm trying to show some restraint at the moment so kept my order down to four.

True. As far as I could tell it's a regular vineyard for this producer but that the wine might favor a little more time. I haven't tried much Andrew Will but what I have I enjoyed so much I thought it a very low-risk punt.

Thank you so much for the response! I’m trying to be more deliberate about what I buy and identifying what and why I like certain wines.

Super helpful!

Mine show that the labels were prepared 12/27 but not shipped yet

Pulled the trigger on 2009 La Tour Blance at $20 per. Not the most heralded LTB, but seems like a great deal on a Sauternes with some age...plus something to go to while letting others continue to rest.

I got 4; pleasantly surprised to find a $30 credit for whatever reason too.
