Got my 12 pack of catena ‘15 Malbec 375s for $8 a pop. Not a profound wine but a nice tasty midweek wine in a spilt.

The latest Last Bottle offering contains a review of the wine that contradicts the Last Bottle description and the wine label shown. The label and description say Willamette Valley, but the review from Wine Enthusiast says fruit sourced from three Rogue Valley vineyards. One of those cannot be correct.
I e-mailed Last Bottle asking them to clarify.
The wine has no cellartracker reviews.

New site launched from the folks at Last Bottle Wines - named 'First Bottle Wines', apparently!
http://www.firstbottlewines.com/

Really cool layout, I think - the categories make a lot of sense

So actually First Bottle Wines is is reorganization of BPW wines.

The latest email from BPW wines states
“Yep, it's true -- the BPWine you know (and hopefully love) is now First Bottle. It's going to be EPIC, too. Read on for the details. The only thing that is REALLY changing is MORE WINE, FREE SHIPPING, and an easier, cleaner, faster website. Did we mention free shipping!?”

I can't believe nobody mentioned the School House Vineyards Mescolanza Syrah up today! I bought 4 so fast my wallet spun.

I've been told School House is a wine right up my alley, and I've never seen it at a store, so I nabbed it.

Todd

Followed your lead.
Got 4

Remember when LB had that Westerly Cote Blonde.
I know a guy who has some extensive knowledge and told me about Cote Rotie and Cote Brune and Blonde.

But that Westerly was (is) a CA version of that. At least their attempt at that. I have not tried any Cote Rotie's
Got the Wine Bible out and researched the Northern Rhone's.
Still have yet to try to a powerful Cote Rotie.
But I liked the way the author (Karen MacNeil) described the Roasted Hillsides that is Cote Rotie.

"They are dramatic wines with incisive, earthy, and gamy flavors. Pepper seems to pace back and forth in the glass like a caged animal."

LOL

I did a Wagner webcast at Total Wine last month and they had her (Karen MacNeil) basically MC it for them. She sat at the table with father, son and daughter.
We did get to taste the Special Selection so that was cool.
But I digress.

She was great and I like her Wine Bible book.
Got the newer revised version last year.
Indispensable for the skinny on the different wine regions.

In for four of the School House. Intrigued that the Syrah vines were a JV with Pride Mountain. Seems well worth a flier at $26.

Who knows what about this pinot offer from “fog and wind” apparently by Sojourn? I do like Sojourn...bit it seems odd to have an exclusive, under the radar brand for LB. why not label it with the Sojourn brand if its good fruit? Maybe it isnt.

BTI reviewed the ‘15 fog and wind and also mentions Sojourn.
Here’s a review of the 2016 being offered:

There was some chatter on Twitter a while back about this wine. When I commented, Sojourn sent me an email that said the wine was made by Sojourn winemaker Erich Bradley and that it was a new brand they just developed. They went on to say that there were no current plans to make it part of Sojourn releases. I took a flyer for four with the Last Bottle price of $26 and free shipping.

Mark Herold Acha Red 2011 today.

I have 4 coming from the marathon back in August that I had them hold.
2014 Acha Red reserve.
Also 2 Flux as I have had this before and liked.
I noticed wine searcher skips over this 2011 vintage.
Anyone have any comments in general about this?
This red sounds more interesting.

anyone biting on the 2015 Chateau Graves de Rabion ? JS 92 for $16. Looking at CT previous vintages look to be at the 87-88 range. Wine searcher shows only one place carrying it for $19 but CT shows people paid around $11. Whats everyone's take on this?

I grabbed 6-bottles......How bad could it be for $16 shipped free/no tax for a 2015 Bordeaux? The CT notes for the 2009, which I figured was probably closest in quality to the 2015, were pretty decent

Even the experts get confused on spelling some wine terms. Is there really any need to point this out? No!
From the current Pierazzuoli offer:

The nose is fruity, fresh, floral and fine. On the palette it is quite a soft entry with good volume, delicate mineral and a fruity final sensation.

Has anyone bought/received and dug into the recent Sleeper cab from the marathon? Popped 1 last night and it was badly corked (everyone unequivocally agreed), wondering if its an anomaly or it there was a bad batch (refund vs replacement).

Why take a flyer on that? If one wants red (or white) Graves - Chantegrive is a good, consistent large production offering that is $16-$20 every year. Should be easy to find too

I wouldn't, I'm just guessing why such a low price is shown on CT. There are a lot of good values even in very inexpensive BDX, but I try to only buy those that come highly recommended and/or I've had experience with, because as much as there is good value, there is just an ocean of swill as well. Buying random inexpensive BDX is, in my experience, almost a certainty of disappointment.

I don't think I've ever had Chantegrive FWIW, so I'll give that a go if I see it around.

I dont understand why all critics always rate wines much higher. Since they are pros shouldnt they have higher standards? They throw mid 90s and up so easily.
