2003 Vietti Barbaresco Masseria - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco (1/30/2009)
Dinner at Dakota. As warm as Piedmont was in 2003, this wine did not show any signs of over-ripeness or being out of balance. Alluring notes of dried cherries, cassis, pomegranates, sandalwood, sweet tobacco, leather, and dried herbs. Robust on the attack but supple and refined on the midpalate and finish. Terrific acidity lifts the wine and energizes the palate. A gorgeous wine that paired perfectly with pork osso bucco. (93 pts.)
