2007 Volnay “Taillepieds” (D’Angerville) - 13.5 % alcohol
Medium red with amber edge.
Fine nose of spice, clove and raspberry with a hint o’ smoke.
Elegant, pure, light-medium bodied minerally cherry/raspberry fruit with a lip smackin’, slightly tannic finish.
Although young, this is quite enjoyable because of it’s great balance.
Quintessential Volnay character. For now:[92+ pts]
Thanks for the note Paul. I have this in the cellar, one of my go to Volnay’s across the board, was interested in how the 07 was showing, rather good it seems…
Thanks for the note on this one, Paul. I just recently had this same wine (TN is around here somewhere) and enjoyed it immensely as well…I agree that, while youthful, it is drinking very well and I had no shame in polishing off the bottle at this young stage.
That’d be great, Frank. I’d grab one of my '06s to do a comparison with, but they’re shut down pretty hard right now and not showing much. I’m sure I’ll find something suitable for the occasion…
Tried this pup on the second night.
Had improved quite nicely.
The fruit had gained in intensity matching up better with the intense minerality.
