TNs: Copain JB 2006, KL 2006 Cab

2006 Karl Lawrence Cab
Pop and pour.
Dark purple.
Nose has a little coffee bean, raw beef and dark berries.
Something tart in the nose I cant put my finger on. The palate has a hefty dose of acid, bright berries and a replay of the coffee. There are some sweet flavors lurking but mostly overshadowed by acidity for now. Mouth tying tannins.
I knew this would need time, but I got curious… :wow:

2006 Copain James Berry
Second go around. Served a bit cold for my taste. Looser than last time. Great nose of grilled meats, bacon, blackberries. The palate carries the same flavors with great acidity and heft. Still has some tight angles that this time I think would have blossomed with air, but some friends of my wife showed up to say hi and killed the bottle. Lots of oohs and ahhs from them, including “We dont drink syrah, we drink merlot and pinot, but this is f’ing good! where can I get it?” Solid tannins in the finish.
