TN: 2006 Walter Hansel Chardonnay, Alyce Cuvee

Back in 08 I thought it was great so I picked up a six pack. A few years later, the wine was on its way down. Just opened a bottle at my local Thai and the wine is superb again. Bright and fresh, lots of fruit. In a very nice place right now.

I’m intrigued by Hansel - they make perhaps the oldest vine (1953) pinots and chards in the state.

The old vine wines, however, are quite pricey ($175) and only available through a wine club participation.

Still figuring how I’ll score a couple of these old vine bottles.

Best to go search for Kalin chards…their “recent” release is the 94, IIRC…at $50 or less…

I think you are confusing Walter Hansel with Hanzell winery.
