NV Heidsieck Monopole Blue Top Brut - Is there a better bubbly for the price out there? Sweet nutty almonds, limestone and yeast on the nose. Nice crisp sweet apples on the palate with a lovely mousse. Great starter.
2000 Guigal Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde - Brett, leather, tar, sun baked rocks and black pepper on the nose with a gorgeous floral perfume entwining all those elements. Still very young and tannic at first, but as it opened up sweet bacon fat, blackberries and pepper on the attack, a nice pure mid palate and then a very long tannic finish. Still a baby, but drinking well now and will continue to give pleasure for years to come.
