TN: Achaval-Ferrer Finca Altamira '00 (tasted from 3L)

Color: Dark Ruby leaning towards black in the glass

Nose: Saturated aromas of black fruits, minerals, gamey aromas, and herbs

Palate: Intense rich black fruits with a creamy mouthfeel, mineralality like licking a dry stone, minty notes, and velvety sweet tannins. 20+ second finish.

Overall Perception: I was blown away. This such a complexly structured wine, that still is very much in it’s youth. I came away with a re-inforced perception that this winery is dead serious about making long lived, intricately layered, wines that express their respective terroirs distinctly. Damn!!!

I have a few Bella Vista sleeping in the cellar (I think 2006s) - best wine I had from Argentina so far had Achaval-Ferrer written on the label. Outstanding stuff (a bit pricey, though). And good to know they age well (although, well, it was a 3L).
