TN: 2003 Fourrier MSD Clos Solon

Figured I’d pop one after reading Jeremy’s note and just getting a batch of 03 Fourrier in the door.

This is at cellar temp right now, so I’ll post later once it warms and perhaps takes on a different character.

Very dark in the glass, drank some 02 Drouhin Petits Monts earlier today and this is markedly darker and even more masculine.

The aroma is absolutely ripe and tends toward the dark end of the spectrum (raspberry, black cherry), but is thought provoking given it’s firm iron, mineral and earth base.

There’s structure and while the acidity isn’t mouthwatering, it’s present - and lends lift to the more red skinned cherry and red raspberry fruit, ending in a taut core of minerality/rocks.

While not overly complex, it’s also not simple or overblown for my tastes - lets see what happens with some air.

As it warms, the fruit does take on a more candied/sweet quality truth be told. Also seems less open now, finish clamping down some.

Bouquet also seems to be getting “simpler,” if that makes any sense.

Maybe 03s just need to be drunk on the colder side? Will keep checking in…
