Nice Whites from Navarro: '07 Sauv Blanc, '07 Pinot Gris

#1 Post by Dennis Atick » January 31st, 2009, 5:44 am

Dinner with friends last night and the two whites we started with were the hits of the night.
My buddy is a Navarro-slut, lately every time we get together he impresses with a Navarro.
What is it with Navarro? Some of the best CA white wines to my palate at incredible prices. These are available for under $20 from their club.

The Pinot Gris was delicious. Translucent faint yellow; damn-near clear. Packed with minerals and palate cleansing acidity that just frames the delicious citrus notes here. Great wine to open with that paired well with all the little bites we noshed.

The Sauv Blanc was a bit sweeter up front. More pineapple and apricot notes. More weight on the palate, too. A tad on the ripe side, but still quite nice.

Have you had their estate Gewurztraminer? That's a great bottle
Apparently I'm lazy, have a narrow agenda, and offer little in the way of content and substance (RMP) (and have a "penchant for gossip" -KBI)

Opened that one last month...a winner as well/
They have case deals on their whites right now. $175 and free ship for a case of whites.
Nice.
