2005 Carlisle Zinfandel Pietro’s Ranch - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (7/4/2010)
Blend of 82% Zin & 18% mixed blacks (Alicante Bouschet, Grand Noir, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Grenache, Carignane). Dark opaque purple going to ruby on the edges. Blackberry, pipe tobacco, and black olives on the nose. Palette was silky texture with blackberry, plums, cocoa, and pepper. Long evolving finish with a very slight grip of tannin. Intense fruit but excellent balance. (93 pts.)
