In my Riedel Vinum Syrah glass right now. Opened about 2 hours ago.
nose: black fruits, sweet oak, spice, light scorched earth
palate: full bodied, black fruits, black oak, light char/smoke, finish that goes on and on, hint of dark bitter chocolate, medium tannins.
Score: A
A nice zin that is getting better with time in the glass. Quite balanced. The oak does not dominate, neither do the fruit or tannins. It will easily go another 5 years, and age gracefully.
Turley is my house zin. I buy everything they offer and I feel the QPR is there. I just dislike the larger bottle sizes. (go back to 1999 bottles pretty please)
Some at $20, some at $75. Yes I think $75 is high for Hayne, but the others are around $30-$50 and that’s not too bad. Grist is my favorite at $40. Geyserville is what now $30-$38?
