TN: Dom Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet

Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 2005:
An enjoyable nose, though not overly exotic in the beginning. Citrus peel and white flowers persist, while some spice (ginger?) swirls in the background. There is some citrus twang and a generous amount of rich, waxy flavors in middle, though I would like the wine to finish with a bit more length. In the end you are left pondering bits of peach, honeysuckle and lemon wedge, but for only fleeting moments, as the wine is a bit too reserved right now. Perhaps it will give more in time, perhaps not? On the night I consumed it I enjoyed enough however. 89+ points

I really like the Fontaine-Gagnard whites. (Havent tasted much of the reds) They make stuff across the board, from Village to many of the white GC’s. The criots is very nice and I tasted it (99 vintage) from 1/2 btl about 6 months ago.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed this.
