– tasted non-blind over 2 days –
NOSE: very “blah” nose; cherries; moderately expressive … maybe even a bit tight?; a tad sweet; not earthy or funky; slight citrus note emerges 3 hours after opening; a bit raisiny on day 2.
BODY: clear; garnet color of medium-light depth with slight orangeing at edges; medium-light bodied.
TASTE: acidic; very little tannins; very simple; hint of underbrush; some spicy raspberry and non-descript bitter fruits; plum; not giving much at all; short finish (10-15 sec.); overall, a disappointment. There are many better CdR’s out there, and for a few dollars less, to boot.
Wow, a surprising note for me, as I do like this wine. It’s not as good as the '05, but it’s really a decent quaffer, and goes well with food. I didn’t get the lack of tannin either…hmm, could just be bottle variation given they product about 450 billion of them.
it was a surprising experience … i was expecting a lot more. the notes on CT seem to fall into 2 camps: 1) great wine, good structure; 2) basically what my note says.
i agree, bottle variation is likely rearing its ugly head on this one.
